Both those guys were decent tacklers but lacking in speed, quickness and coverage skills. It helped them greatly that Arkansas bases defense was 6 DBs on the field which covered for their lack of speed and coverage skills. At least 1 of them wouldn’t start this coming season.

Humorous. Just from personal experience I’ve played on several teams where captains weren’t starters. If you care to spend time doing the research I would imagine you could find former LSU captains who weren’t starters. Personally I have better ways to waste time

Well from personal experience when I was in a d1 program for 6 seasons, the captains were never not starters.

But we need to be able to play tighter zones and man defenses more instead of strictly the soft drop 8 zone.

Sure skippy. You must have not played much ball growing up. I played on a top 10 D1 baseball team for 3 years and my sophomore year one of our 3 captains may have had 10 at bats all year.
