What we did right on offense in Q4 that changed the momentum

Of course, the Defense put a lot of this game on their back and defense wins championships again. Can’t say enough about them and their play.
On offense, what was frustrating me was we would make a nice run and then try to pass when it seemed like we didn’t have to. Bamas pass rush was excellent most of the game and the line was missing blocks. Also, some of those pass plays, there wasn’t anyone open.
In Q4, we finally attacked the A gap and we won the LOS after flirting with it in Q3. What this did was change Bamas coverage. They ran man on us on the outside and their safeties were creeping up. That opened up that deep ball and I am glad we took that shot. On Bowers TD, we ran a stretch play fake and Bamas line, LBs, and safeties all went with the run fake. One DE or OLB for Bama was unblocked on that play. He was coming fast. Not sure how Stetson was able to run the fake and get the ball over that dudes head. Net result was Bowers was out there with really one guy to beat as all the defense flowed with that zone stretch run fake. I wonder how much more we could have scored and wore them down if we did pounded it all game. It was still an awesome game to see and I’m glad the coaches picked up on it when we really needed it.
Side note, both those late offensive TDs had flags on them. We had no idea at the game what they were when it happened, but based on the refs track record, we assumed it was something chicken shite on us. Really took from the joy of the moment.
Side note 2: I swear to frick. Even when we were up by 15, we were waiting for something kooky to happen. We were just conditioned that way I guess. Not anymore.

It feels like we made it a lot harder on ourselves than it needed to be. It was pretty obvious after the first possession in the second half that Bama could not stop the run. I'm not sure why Monken kept going away from the it. Fortunately, Stetson made some great throws late in the game.

I also think that Georgia had better conditioning. You can tell that Bama defense was tired and had breakdowns and gaps in Q4. They didn't play to their full potential like the first 3 quarters.

RB's were missing pass pro blocks as well. Both of em did much better in the 4th qtr. Cook had a solid pick up on Stets long TD pass.
I suppose we were running rolling out passes to get away from Anderson's pass rush but none of em seemed to work.Bama had it blanketed.

Biggest thing we did right was re-shuffle the o-line. Ericsson went out, Salyer moved to guard, Broderick Jones went to tackle.

I believe we took another shot downfield in the 4th and got PI. The defender was in man and knew he was about to get beat with no help.

He straight up tackled the receiver.
Would have been a TD
