Saban bitching about schools paying with NIL

Has got to be one of the richest drips of irony in his long list of hypocritical statements. Remember player safety with the Hurry up offenses? That still might take the cake.
But this is right up there with it. In his mind I guess when can totally discount the fact that he went to Alabama and brought in two straight #1 classes when alabama had been a dumpster fire for the better part of two decades. It wasn’t his ice cold, miserable personality that brought in those players. It was the massive amounts of illegal payment schemes, Nick.
You’re fooling no one.

You're a fricking idiot. Everything this man has ever said about college football has been spot on. No matter how many times the man is 100% accurate, idiots like you say stupid arse things like this. Two years from now, you and every other moron will be saying "Saban was right".

He’s not bitching, he’s issuing a warning. Just like he did before the NIL, transfer portal, playoff, etc. The sport is worse off for all those things.

The sport is worse off for the powers that be.
The sport is worse off from those who have greatly benefitted from the status quo.

"The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Football Rules Committee recently
debated a rule that would have slowed the pace of football games. The stated motivation for
this proposed rule was player safety, but many speculated that it was an attempt by traditional
coaches to negate the advantages gained by rivals who employ an innovative offensive strategy
known as the Hurry-Up-No-Huddle (HUNH) offense. To inform this debate, we collect data on
player injuries from five years of team press releases. We use both fixed effects and regression
discontinuity specifications to estimate the causal effect of pace on injuries and empirically
test the hypothesis that faster paced games result in more injuries. We find robust evidence
that defensive player injuries increase linearly with the pace of play: every ten additional plays
cause a 9 increase in injuries. Results for offensive players are mixed, and we find no evidence
of nonlinear effects. We discuss the policy implications of this patterns of results."

No matter how much they try to change the sport, the status quo remains the same because the one constant hasn't changed - Nick Saban. Josh Pate said it best on his show the other day: don't blow up college football when all you have to do is wait Nick Saban out. He'll be retired within the next 5-7 years.

I'm no lover or defender of Saban, but I take this as a prophetic warning.

So, why didn't they change the rules to address it?
