Georgia coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs will stick with their plan to arrive in Miami on Sunday to begin preparations for the Orange Bowl College Football Playoff Semifinal.

Receiver George Pickens is expected to be with the team, as a source close to his family told DawgNation that Pickens has tested negative for COVID-19 twice since what now appears to be a false positive on Tuesday.

Quarterback JT Daniels, however, is expected to remain in quarantine and not travel with the team. Daniels’ quarantine period is expected to expire before the game, however.………. LINK

I didn’t think it was likely that he would start, but I don’t know how I feel about Beck coming in if Stetson needs to come out.

Dalvin Cook now in protocol, hopefully he hasn't and won't hang out with his brother over Christmas.

Hopefully they take the Saban approach and try to win at all costs.

Kirby planned it so he would have another excuse not to play him.

As I understand the rules, he can join after 10 days (day before game)or he tests negative 2x. He can practice solo on campus if he isn’t symptomatic.

He could actually be sick for all we know.

But the question is, are they even going to bother shipping him down there solo?

If I had to bet on it, JT will be in Miami.

Why did you downvote me for being happy for Fromm to get an NFL start, after his rocky entry into the league?

Trying to imagine what that would even look like for a QB.

As an aside, apparently NCAA is pushing CDC about the 10 day protocol. The argument is that it's overkill for vaccinated people who get the virus and also that it's especially overkill for this group, given their age and health status. The current policy is apparently wreaking havoc on college basketball.

Not sure any changes will take affect before the playoffs start but it's under discussion.

CDC geeks still running everything:

"There is a growing body of evidence that infection with omicron goes away more quickly than some other variants, so there has been talk about being able to be cleared after as short of a window as five days," Bowlsby told me. "There is also some conversations about being able to test out of isolation."

The CDC hasn't gotten there yet. It's still at 10 days. Until that changes, the NCAA and schools will be reluctant -- if not refusing -- to change it because they let the CDC pave the path, even if reliable data from the NBA or NFL is ahead of the CDC curve.

Did I ? If I did it was an accident. Glad for Fromm but he underachieved at UGA. Wish him well in the NFL.

Not sure how they do it now, but for Bowl practice, a lot of scout team players did not come back to practice after the Tech game. Just the people who were dressing/traveling to the game.
