None of that means Jimbo will win a Natty at A&M but it is amazing the lengths folks go to to act as though he is a crap coach that has never won anything and will never win anything by brushing off all of his accomplishments.

The thing is aTm fans tout his accomplishments but don't seem willing to put them in context. At FSU in six seasons without Jameis, he lost fewer than 3 games ONCE (12-2 in 2012). He also cratered them in 2017. It may well have been because of his personal life situation, but it still happened.

Since coming to aTm he's had ONE season with fewer than four losses despite having recruiting classes ranked (by 247 in the conference) 6th (2018), 3rd (2019), 4th (2020), 4th (2021).

Is he a terrible coach? No. He puts a solid, consistent product on the field but he's been a head coach at high profile P5 programs for 12 years now. By their 12th seasons at P5 programs Saban and Dabo had both won 2 titles and Urban had won 3. Even more telling, in their 12th years at P5 schools Saban won a national title and both Dabo and Urban won conference titles. They were performing at the highest levels of their careers.

Jimbo's national title was in 2013 and he hasn't won a conference title since 2014.

When blessed with an exceptional QB, he's good enough to exploit that talent but there's no evidence that he's got the ability to rise from just solid consistency to being a perennial contender.

Our recruiting relative to other conference foes seems to be on par with where we end up ranked relative to the conference. The article points out the possible scenario if Jimbo were to recruit at the highest level which he is doing this year.

The reality in football is you can have the best offense and defensive stars around but if your QB isn't at least above average you aren't going to win a National Championship. Having a great QB though increases your chances exponentially.

This year we had the bad luck to have our QB1 break his leg in the 2nd game, and the backup was what I'd call average at best (Throws 1 pick a game on average). With Haynes at the helm, would we have lost 4 games? Perhaps, but probably not. We'll never know.

He has finished on par or better than expected considering those recruiting classes in conference.

I don't think any rational A&M fan is comparing Jimbo with the best of all time (Saban), or some of the all time greats like Dabo or Meyer. We can all agree their accomplishments are better. He's just not complete dog shite like everyone on here makes him out to be.
