But I mean... the Art Hobson's are what make Fayetteville what it is. He isn't some new blight upon the city. He's been around forever and there's been that level of hippie at the core of Fayetteville/dickson culture forever. Any happy hour on Friday, hitting George's then Library Club/Chesters was absolutely full of that type of person.. and it was awesome.

I'm much more distressed about the number of shitty bars, like Shotz, littering dickson street than the old crunchy hippies who have been a part of the scene here since the 70s.
Show this thread to normal (not online) people in Fayetteville and the vast majority will think the people posting in here are complete weirdos. I think they'd wonder wtf the people in here are talking about

I guess there's a tendency for people to exaggerate when they're online. Idk. Seems like some people in here think Fayetteville is the Paris Commune, but it's really just a typical American college town

I’m sure some people are saying that, but what I’m thinking is how long can you add 25-46% of your population before you become a homogenized version of every other city. If I had wanted to live in Nashville or Austin I would move there, but we are getting a bunch of people who can’t be there, so they come here and try to make us them.

If we had a year over year census, I would bet from the beginning of the pandemic til now we have gained 10-20% of our population. Our property taxes and rent are sky rocketing. The roaming drug dens that we call homeless is worse and so is the crime, not just minor crime either, major crimes like rapes and murders.
