Considering that all anyone expected this year from Missouri was that y'all would not be as bad as you were last year I think we can say this was a great first season for Mizzou.
What we got this year from Missouri was a team that plays hard and was a pain in the arse. The scrappy team defense gave headaches to a lot of teams this year and you were rewarded with an invitation to the Big Dance.
Yes, the wheels fell off against Princeton but that was the classic "oh shite, we've made it this far" that you get from a first year team. I've said it before and I'll say it again, so far I'd say Gates was the hire of the year in the SEC.
Congrats and I am looking forward to what the next season holds for you guys.

Thanks, Sulli.
It was a good year by most measures and, by our recent history, a great year.
We will probably take a step back next year in record. But I expect to continue to see program growth.

As a fellow non-Mizzou baw in here, I agree with Sulli.
The future is bright for Mizzou Basketball, you guys finally have the coach, and from there, you had the missing pieces figured out. Everyone expected Mizzou to stay mediocre this year but y'all showed grit and determination and won games.
Princeton out-played you and out-smarted y'all (they're an Ivy League school...come on, they didn't come there to play ball, they came to play school brah), but this season was a special one. No one expected Mizzou to be in the tourney, nor Gates to turn around Mizzou basketball in his first year. Believe me, Gates will carry you to a Sweet 16 sooner or later.
Y'all will come back stronger, trust me

Our offense was dog water before Gates.
21-22: 65.5ppg
20-21: 73.6ppg
19-20: 67.1ppg
18-19: 67.2 ppg
17-18: 73.3 Porter year
16-17: 69.2 ppg
Gates had us at 80 with Brown and a bunch of transfers having lost Brazile to Arky and having Mosley not even really play.
And it was a mostly fun to watch offense that wasn’t an ugly slow eyesore like the Clwonzo years. I don’t even know what the Kim years looked like. I gave up during that stretch.

Think we were picked 10th or 11th in the SEC pre season. So everything past that was gravy

That is the question for every team it seems like... can you get quality big men? They seem to be an increasingly rare commodity.

I would say it was very good. Great is a bit much. Great things should be great on their own with no qualification and this season wouldn't really stand up to being called great.
We have a coach who has a career post season record at Mizzou of .500. That is awesome compared to where we have been for decades now. Hopefully next year we get above .500.

Dude this quote is insane, he's in year one and you are looking at his "career" post season record at mizzou.

I know. it is awesome, right? He came in and made an instant impact like good coaches do. Most everyone didn't think he'd have a post season record other than maybe 0-1 (sec tourney).
