Just watched Greg McElroy's podcast and agree totally

The 8 game schedule doesn't preserve rivalries. Go to the 3-6 model. The Iron Bowl isn't going away. With 8 games the Bama-UT game goes away. The Auburn-UGA game goes away, LSU-Ole miss, UK-UT, Florida-UT all go away.
Go to the 9 games. Yes, if it means Bama has to keep the one-sided LSU "rivalry" then so be it. Don't destroy the 3rd saturday and UT fans would agree. In My life there has been nothing like that fall saturday in the smokies every other year except for the saturday after T'giving annual Iron Bowl.
Go ahead and vote the 9 games in. Bama will have the toughest schedule by far but hey, we are Bama. If you're good enough, you will win.

Pretty sure Auburn or Florida will have that honor.

There's no reason not to go to 9. With the 12 team playoff, Alabama will always get selected with 2 losses in a 9 game SEC.

if the LSU and Tennessee games are one sided then what does it matter
