Bruee Pearl talking about Broome in high school

Well, I think you've got to remember where Johni Broome came from. And that just doesn't get talked enough about. He's a 3-star out of Tampa Catholic. He's not fast enough. He's not quick enough. He's not good enough. He doesn't make the top AAU teams in Florida. He's a low-major, mid-major kid. And all he's ever done his entire career is prove people wrong. Not an NBA player, cause he's not an NBA athlete.

Broome's journey to basketball prominence began in high school, initially at Plant City High School in Florida, where he experienced a remarkable growth spurt of about six inches in just two years. Later, he transferred to Tampa Catholic High School in Tampa, Florida, marking a crucial phase in his development.
Choosing Morehead State for his college basketball journey over enticing offers from other institutions, Broome swiftly assumed a crucial role, making a significant impact after a teammate's unfortunate injury. His exceptional freshman year earned him the titles of Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Freshman of the Year and First Team All-OVC, along with a record-breaking nine-time OVC Freshman of the Week.
In his sophomore year, Broome's brilliance continued, earning him a spot on the First Team All-OVC and the prestigious title of Defensive Player of the Year. Demonstrating a commitment to growth, he entered the transfer portal in April 2022, later announcing his move to Auburn over Florida. Johni Broome's journey is a testament to his dedication and skill, solidifying his status as a rising star in college basketball. Now, let’s talk about Johni Broome parents.

He spent his entire basketball career playing guard until he got tall in high school. He had to relearn the game at a new position

He has incredible touch around the rim that you just can’t teach, and he is one of the most under control bigs I’ve ever seen with the ball in his hands.

He reminds me of Timme formerly from Gonzaga. Just always in his bag of tricks down low.

He knows how to get it through the hoop. He does remind me of Timme a bit. They both look like old dudes that would work over the YMCA. He has added some wrinkles this year and seems a lot more complete.
