I read from a poster on 247 that FSU offered more in salary (not sure if more than us or more than first offer) plus no state income tax.

I live in Florida. I would take back the state income tax for the cheaper cost of living.

Per a post a couple hours ago on AUC from someone who supposedly talks to Woodson's dad FSU ponied up more money & Woodson took it. General thought from AU connecteds is Al Pogue, DB coach at WVU, is likely to get the 1st look.
He's supposedly a good recruiter & knows the area very well since he was at AU & coached high school in Montgomery.

Thanks for the info. It was too useful to let sit on the other thread.

Pogue spent three years at Auburn as the offensive quality control coach (2011), special teams quality control coach (2012) and director of high school relations (2013).
While Pogue was with the Tigers, Auburn played in the 2013 BCS National Championship game, won the 2013 SEC Championship and defeated Virginia in the 2011 Chick-fil-A Bowl.
Pogue spent six years as a high school head coach at Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama, from 2008-10, St. Jude High School in Montgomery from 2006-07 and at Calhoun High School in Montgomery in 2002. He oversaw Carver’s first undefeated season in 2008.
Pogue was a three-year starter as a safety and cornerback at Alabama State from 1993-96, earning All-America and All-SWAC honors at free safety.
A native of Mobile, Alabama, Pogue earned his bachelor’s degree in special education from Alabama State in 1998. He, and his wife, Nikita, also a graduate from Alabama State, have two children, Allison and Nasir.

Maybe 247 will guess some of the actual names this time

Who is the DB assistant that autgr24 swears was the reason we beat Memphis? Anyway, that would be a Gus hire, go ahead and put him on the short list.

Then again neither is Gus typically but we went outside the circle with Bicknell.

Wow you have a good memory! Blake Gideon is the name and Kiffin already snatched him up baw.
On August 24, 2014, Gideon joined the Florida Gators as a defensive quality control coach. Gideon had played the first three seasons of his college career for the Longhorns under Gators head coach Will Muschamp, who was the defensive coordinator at UT at the time. In 2015, Gideon joined the Auburn Tigers as a graduate assistant. He was given the defensive backs coach duties at Auburn during preparation for the 2015 Birmingham Bowl vs. Memphis after Travaris Robinson joined Muschamp’s staff at South Carolina. Gideon would follow Robinson and Muschamp to South Carolina in January 2016 as a linebackers and special teams graduate assistant coach before accepting a full-time position at Western Carolina, where he was the defensive backs coach for 2 seasons. In Spring 2018 he joined the Georgia State Staff as Corners Coach. In January 2019, Gideon was hired by newly named head coach Dana Holgorsen to coach safeties and be special teams coordinator at the University of Houston. Gideon was hired by Lane Kiffin to join him at Ole Miss starting with the 2020 season.
Dude has been hired by Gus, Muschamp, Holgorsen, Kirby, and now Kiffin. Either he's legit or can crush a job interview

Just adding my 2 cents... I'm really disappointed we didn't step up and pay more to keep Woodson. I'm sure we will bring in someone good, but Woodson was a great recruiter and a really good coach. Whoever it is will have some big shoes to fill.

We basically borrowed Woodson from Norvell. Mississippi’s talent takes a dip in 2021 so it’s not the worst timing
Posted on 1/22/20 at 12:48 pm to TheJones
I agree with that.. DB class is wrapped up and like you said Miss doesn't have as much talent coming out. Now its just time to sit back and see who they bring in.

Really don't want Pogue. He was only hired by Auburn to sign Jeremy Johnson.
Blake Gideon would be a solid hire though.

Pogue or Gideon would be alright.
I say we break the bank and go get Derrick Ansley from Tennessee. Make him co-DC / DB coach. He is from Tallassee, played at Troy, coached at Bama/UT/NFL. He would be a nice transition for when Steele heads off into the sunset in a few years.
