Well if the dude is doing things that weren't being done that leads to a better chance at success than the former head coach they do.

I’m 100% certain that Freeze would also have lost a close game to Vandy and beaten FCS Mercer.

The most overblown thing in this. Players are going to leave if Durkin is promoted too. And they’re definitely going to leave when Durkin is an absolute disaster and fired within 2 years.

You are delusional if you think we would've been close to Vandy. No way.

This sums it up well from a guy that covers Alabama

Oh really? Freeze has had close losses to every good team Auburn played. Durkin just changed it from being a close/low scoring loss to a close/high scoring loss.

It was fun having him out there for a few games.

He was an interim coach but he did accomplish something. The players played their hearts out for him. I saw a difference in the overall spirit and morale of the team when he took over after Harsin was fired. I don't think he was a good choice for head coach long term but he did make a difference in the short term.

Why do people say Drink? He just inked a new contract extension at Missouri.

So did Lea.

I dont remember a coaching hire cycle where so many of the most sought after guys actually sign extensions where they are. Especially considering the schools in the market for a new coach.

Exactly. The flavor of the game was different and that has tricked people into thinking that we actually were closer than the other games but we played better teams than Vandy just as close this season, we just had shitty offense instead of defense.
