Mateer was feeling the heat just as much as Arnold, but 2 things happened. He actually got rid of the ball, and the OC changed his game plan to more quick hitters.

Freeze did that some, but not nearly enough. Singleton kept either making the first guy miss or breaking the first tackle against him. I kept thinking they were going to keep going to him, especially in that last drive that went nowhere. That’s where the 5 wide would’ve made sense. He could have had 2 blockers out wide with him. Snap the ball, throw it, and let your playmakers make plays. That takes the pass rush out of the equation.

I agree completely that the OL has blame but JA is most to blame for the huge number of sacks.

Needing 2.5 is a rule of thumb. I need more evidence players were open.

The one War Rapport video where two receivers were right next to each other proved little as those dump downs would have netted nothing. You need to rewatch the Aaron Murray video last year when he disected our offense and couldn't figure out why our route tree wasnt stressing the defense, it was more like receivers running aimlessly to no purpose. Two receivers should never be next to each other. That stresses no coverage out.

No, you don't. If they're not open by then, you dump it or run it or throw it away.

A ton of those sacks were coverage sacks. You are 100% right about Arnold holding the ball too long. I'm being to think that he has a massive fear of getting picked, so he won't take a chance on anything other than a clearly, very open receiver. Very open.

The next time I coach a QB will be the first time, if I can see it, all of his coaches at two different schools can see it.

Just check the video.

He did hold it too long on that one 4 second sack but even Aaron Murray said nobody was open.

Murray also said he was disappointed in the OL

I don't care what Aaron Murray said, I that the OL played decently and that JA was to blame for a lot, if not most of the sacks while you blame the OL. I guess we'll just disagree.

Two teams were even. They won the bs calls by shitty refs that made it look rigged. We need an elite qb that throws his WRs open or gives them a chance for 1x1 balls. Taking a sack after 5sec is QB problem

The PFF scores will eventually come out. OL will be poor...

My only real disappointment is the magnitude of mental errors we made. Can’t happen in big games in year 3. Yet, we still could have won, even being down 14 points from the refs.

Arnold has to figure out how to get rid of the ball or take off more decisively. Playcalling needs to be more complimentary of that. Otherwise, defense played very well until we went prevent on their game winning drive.

OL was poor in run blocking. Pass blocking they did better than the numbers show because we didn’t get rid of the ball.

You realize the OL's job is to power through rushing lanes and to keep the QB clean?

In no way in hell did the OL do that. I will put the one 4 second sack on JA but then there are 9 more to account for. Our OL got worked while their top DL was suspended.

There was nothing even about those two teams.

Their Dline dominated our oline. Dominated is putting it lightly. We had no answer for their pass rush and blitz.

Let's not also forget the muffed punt bad snap and the missed fg. We got our arse beat. The defense made it look respectable but there is a reason they're top 5ish and we aren't ranked. We are not equal and it showed in certain aspects.
