I agree with this and would add the huge numbers of bowl games allowing 6-6 bowl eligible teams.

CFP made the former BCS bowls very clear 2nd tier losers bowls while everyone going bowling dilutes the value of going to a bowl

are looked at as stepping stones and mere "games that might trip you up" instead of meaningful SEC matchups.

I think the massive influx of resources + increased national exposure via national media exposure of top programs also has started to make a huge difference. Not necessarily as much in SEC but other P5 conferences

Top P5 programs have most exposure, can pay for the best coaches, best training facilities, most athlete support, largest bagmen bags and likely best hookups after school if they don't go pro.

It's honestly shocking that lower tier programs win any games vs top 10-20 programs

Yeah it’s not really close. But, we did own Bama for the better part of 2000-2009

I mean, we definitely haven't owned Bama this decade. But if Gus can somehow beat them again this season, he'll be 4-4. That's a time share

Yep. That one thing left that Malzahn needs to do to complete his ability to go toe to toe with Saban in the IB, is for him to beat Saban at Alabama.

He's only done it as our OC, and he has outside of 1 game, held home field advantage at JH stadium against him very well.

You mean when they were on probation vs the next decade when they had possibly the best run in college football history.

Those two things are not comparable.
