As long as y’all keep posting this, I’m going to keep asking.
So we wouldn’t hire Saban?
Cristobal has an $8 million buyout at Oregon. If we ponied that up, we'd have to do better than what he's getting at Oregon, and he's currently in extension negotiations there, as I type this. So, that being said, let's say we come up with the huge money and hire him. Huge contract + Gus' contract, for a guy with a PAC-12 title. It may pay off in a big way, but it could just as easily make us in worse shape than we are now.
I just think it's far less riskier, considering the current situation, to get someone like Napier.

Replace this:

So Oregon, with all it's great recruits under Cristobal, still loses to Gus and an freshman Bo Nix?
With this:

So Alabama, with all it's great recruits under Saban, still loses to Gus and an freshman Bo Nix?

Also, that big bad loss to Auburn came in the first game of the season and literally took a last minute prayer throw and highlight catch. Like...okay? You might have a point there if Gus blew his arse out, he didn't. Oregon went on to bounce back from that loss, win the conference, and then beat Wisconsin (who always whips us) in the Rose Bowl. Wow so bad!
If he can't dominate that horrible conference, all while being a top 5 recruiter, just how is going to contend with Saban and Kirby?

I've never considered Saban a great coach. He may very well be the greatest assembler of talent to ever stand on a football field, but he's not all that with game planning. Alabama simply overwhelms there opponents with talent. On the rare occasion he loses, it's almost always due to boneheaded decisions. Last year's Iron Bowl, and the Kick 6 are prime examples.
Although it's possible that Cristobal could come in and replicate Saban's process, it is extremely unlikely that he will be successful with it.

So if Saban were available would you hire him or pass?

Literally no one is saying this. Sorry your argument is extremely weak.

I’ll break it down for you.
You laugh at hiring Cristobal because with all his talent at Oregon, he lost to Malzahn and a freshman Nix.
I’m simply pointing out that by that logic you can’t hire Saban. Because Saban lost to the exact same team.
Not sure why I had to explain that

I think Auburn would go further into being a finesse team that struggles in the trenches with Napier. I don’t necessarily think he’s a bad coach or would be a bad hire, but I think it might be a bad fit.
