Im not writing them off. They have underdog status in this game and its in their stadium, however, i am calling this game a win and the first notch in Harsin's belt as Auburn's head coach

It’s definitely a winnable game. Penn State was missing their best RB last year I believe, and brought back a lot of guys in defense, but they don’t have more talent than Auburn. This game will clearly come down to how our team, and specifically Bo Nix, can perform on the road.

I also think it will be interesting to see what we really have in our head coach in that game. For all that James Franklin is good at as a coach, he has always been an iffy in-game coach IMO.

This would definitely be a statement game for a new coach to go on the road and win that environment. Even if we don’t pull it off though, we could still learn a lot, clean up something’s against Georgia State, and get an immediate shot at redemption in our first conference game at LSU. Have to win one of those to get some momentum early on.

We see drastic swings in outcomes every year over the previous years results. LSU, A&M, and Penn State are all very talented. To write any of them in as sure fire wins is premature, IMO.

Exactly.

Its ok to be positive for our team, we ARE Auburn fans...but to be realistic..

...We are coming off a 6-5 season, with a new coach, new schemes on offense and defense. So those that see us as a 9-10 win season should also know that LSU probably is improving too.

So just bc we beat up LSU last year has little bearing on LSU game being a gimme.

It is on the road, and we have 2 strikes against us.
1. We don't play well at LSU at ALL.
2. Bo doesn't play well on the road.

So at BEST this game could be a toss up, but if we don't overcome those 2 negatives above we will not win.

So I am looking at a 7-5 season bc I don't think we overcome the top 6 teams we play, but I am hoping for 8-4 with 1 quality win over Georgia.

I will add one more thing.

We do have a wild card in our season. Coach Bryan Harsin.

We actually have no clue how Harsin really has prepared this team.

If he has this team well prepared, with improvements in those areas we deem week, and IF Harsin is great at calling a game, we can win 9 games.

That would be a great first year.

I thought half this board was UCF fans anyway, I think 7 is what we should expect. I like the way he's working our guys, and even though we have the talent, the talent needed lots of development to work on their ability to not look at the sideline for everything like a high school team does.

Pro style means, they each have their own responsibilities to do their own reads of what's happening, Malzahn-style = we'll tell you what we see from the sideline and press box and hope you see it quick enough.

Based on last year’s results for other teams, here’s what it *should* be in my opinion:

W-Akron
W-Alabama State
W-@ Penn State
W-Georgia State
W-@LSU
L-Georgia
W-@Arkansas
W-Ole Miss
L-@A&M (I hate this loss the most tbh)
W-Mississippi State
W-@South Carolina
L-Alabama

That would put us at 9-3, which would be incredible for CBH in his first year. But taking into account all the changes and shifting around we’ve had this off-season, I don’t see how we could do that well. So I’m not sure what our final record would look like. If we can squeak out 8 wins in the regular season and a bowl win, I’ll be pleased.

Many of you aren't seeing the big picture... Yes we have a new coach but also have...

A lot of experience on the OL, experienced qb, best rb in the country, stud LBs, tons of experience in the secondary, and a great kicker.

I think anything under 9 wins with this group is disappointing. Now if we had a new qb freshman starting all over the place I would say lets just try to win a bowl game. ...

These two are the reason I’m not confident we hit 9 wins. Yes both are experienced but by all accounts the OL still struggles with pass pro and Bo still sucks at throwing on the run.

... welcome to the SEC West Mister Harsin.

Yep the schedule is stout but not all that different from playing in the SEC west and Georgia being our forever team.

So I'm not going to fret having to be good. You always have to be good and Gus had us good. It's not like we always lucked into wins. T'was more like with the wins he didn't screw things up and lose . And the tough stretch in the 1st half is offset with two weeks of additional practice... almost like a preseason... or extended camp. Could we lose before Penn State, yes and that would be BAD! And average has been losing on the road, almost forfeiting every bowl, not being ready to play come September, being utterly predictable, not having a backup QB, nor educating players, and a below average playbook... none of which I see. So that leaves the distinct possibly of over achieving for the season.

I'm hoping Harsin knows the OL struggles and game plans accordingly. Nothing pissed me off more than seeing 15 yard routes on 3rd and 5 with a oline that couldn't hold a block.

Hopipng to see more slants, crosses, picks, etc... to get the ball out quicker.
