So do we trust Hoke or is he just making stuff up for clicks?

Tubberville?

Dye?

And the last two

What is "very different" other than UGA being where they're at but UGA and Bama were the two top programs in the country when Dye took over as well?

Dude that was 45 years ago. Thing are very different right now. And I never said that a coach cant win, I said its one of the hardest places to coach. Due to schedule, expectations, recruiting difficulties and meddling by Auburn.

Hugh sucked but proved Auburn could still recruit at a high enough level to win big.

Recruit my arse. Dude bought players. That is also very different now. Who in their right mind wants to come here right now unless you are getting a frickton of money to do so? We are very toxic and everyone knows it. Lets hope that all the players that preacher Hugh bought up do not bail on us after today. That would really suck

2024 17th in offense
2025 top 10

Complete turn around of a dumpster fire - mainly due to what he hangs his hat on - offense

UT - part of a productive offense once again

coached with Matt Campbell

Could care less about soft, nonquantifiable head coaching skills

The guy succeeds in what he is responsible for.

Auburn has needed consistent offensive proficiency going on 30+ years.

Russians tend to be no nonsense (get to work)

Bowden, Tubbs and Chizik had undefeated seasons. Chizik won a title and Chizik and Gus played for one.. Dye and Barfield never went undefeated and neither played for a national title nor did they ever win one. Retroactively trying to award him one 45 years later like we did with Bowden and Tubbs doesn't count either

Florida fans literally ran Spurrier out of their program. That place is also tough

We ran Chizik out two years after winning our first Natty in 50 years.

Like I said above, yes coaching can win but its a very tough job. One of the toughest

Here is a poll for you to watch

So he calls plays? We want another offensive guru? Last 3 haven’t worked out well

No. I was just asking a question. Id think if we hire a coach, we should let him bring who he wants.

I will go back and read it

He is independent of the last 3, and actually Malzahn did work out very well for a time - nobody can force anyone to adapt.

We already have defense locked down, so at this instance in time, we need to do whatever to fix the offense. Hiring a guy who has been productive for 5+years is as good of a try as any.

If DJ is the head coach, he better have the offense figured out.

additionally, I don't perceive Golesh as a "guru"

I think he is a no nonsense hard worker.

Golesh is average at best. What has he ever proven?

Number 1, there are no proven coaches for us to hire, we are way beyond that at this point (unless Dilly actually considers leaving his alma mater).

But more importantly, USF had a total of 4 wins over the three seasons before he got there. Getting 22 total wins in three years (most likely 23 beating Rice today) is a very solid turn around fairly quickly for a crappy program like USF.

And for comparison sake, Josh Heupel was 9-3 and then 6-3 during the regular season his 2nd and 3rd seasons at UCF before being hired away by Tennessee. And UCF those two years was similar to USF under Golesh, great offense and mediocre to crappy defense.

Give him a good DC and defensive talent and Golesh could be a pretty solid hire. One of my major concerns with Sumrall (beyond him bringing up crappy assistants up from Tulane)is that he is a defensive coach with a poor defense. He went from a 24th ranked scoring d in year 1 to a 69th ranked scoring d in year 2.

Golesh doesn't have that issue, his offense has been solid all three years, and straight up fantastic this year. He also lost his really good starting QB last year during the middle of the fifth game to a broken leg, and still managed the 33rd best scoring offense.

Yes, I'm sure they came to the US to spread the ideology.
