What if Brother Bill had been named permanent coach in 1998?

Would Tuberville have stayed at Ole Miss? He damn sure wouldn’t be a Senator in this state.

Who cares.

Never cared for Bill Oliver. He was a decent DC but had a couple great defensive tackles in that 92 season and an offense that played to the defensive strengths.

I’m glad we got Tuberville if that’s what you’re asking.

Just from memory, seems like he caused some strife on the Alabama staff before Bowden hired him, then he caused some strife on Bowden's staff.

"That little sh!te head.."

Might just have been poison where ever he went. Or might not.

Oliver would never have come close to one-for-the-thumb so Tubs >>>>>>> Bro Bill.

This coming from a guy who is a bigger fan of Senator Tubs than Coach Tubs.

There is little doubt that the program would have had much more success in the following years. Oliver knew who to hire, both young and old. Competition was as down as it will ever get.

But Jimmy Rane wanted to keep his side line, all access pass, so he brought in Tuberville with his horrific staff.

Yeah programs were beating down his door to hire him. Auburn was just the dumb ones that didn’t. Oh wait!

yeah, nothing says “homerun hire” like the guy who sues you when you don’t hire him

Oliver was a great DC in short bursts, but wore out his welcome everywhere he hung around for more than a couple of years

RIP to him, but glad he never got the fulltime HC gig at AU
