he was one of the hot names last year when we should have fired barbee. I'm assuming he just kept trucking along and doing good things this year for la tech?

Yes, saw la tech play live this year. Very fun to watch.

The shooter sleeve ratio on his teams seems to be a bit low, but we can work on that.

We need to go hire a seven seconds or less coach. Implement the HUNH in all sports at Auburn.

Sure enough.. He's 24-6 this year, should be NIT bound 2/3 years. They've eclipsed 100 points 5 times, even hit 126 one game. I really don't see a downside to giving him a go at AU. Throw him 1-1.5 mil, and let his youth build up the program. He could be a long-term solution.4

ETA: If a coach doesn't have a dumpster-fire of a program at a 180 by the end of year 3, the shite will not improve. Heck, as an Auburn fan, I'd settle for a 120/90, but I won't settle for a sure fire 0. With the resources AU has, a new arena, name recognition/Charles Barkley still in the media, there's no reason AU shouldn't compete in at least the NIT every year.

Shooter sleeve clause in his contract. There must be 2 players on the court at all times with a shooter sleeve on.

Don't question my reasoning here. It is science.

And with that I will leave you with the king of the shooter sleeve:

Science.

Science.

Leg sleeves and pimp arse suits are, of course, optional.

I have lost the last bit of faith I had in Barbee working out at Auburn. His style demands having a low post scorer and we don't have one. I still think he would be a good coach at a different school but he isn't going to work out here.

I'd love to have Michael White and his uptempo style if we can get him. We are pretty low on the totem pole as far as attracting coaches so it is going to take a good offer and not any competition for him to land him.

Not to twist the knife, but what do you think our chances would be now, and what do you think they would have been if we called him at the end of last season?

We could have had him last year imo. Now I think it depends on who else is looking.

ETA: I think he stays near the Southeast so as long as Bama, Clemson, Wake, Ok St and a few others don't open up we have a decent chance if we can make him a good offer with some promises to change the way we do a few things.

I don't think we're that far down for an up-and-comer like White. Bruce Pearl, yeah that won't happen. But White could double his pay, have pretty damned low expectations, awesome facilities, a great locale to call home, and build a legacy. For someone like White, AU is a perfect fit. An NIT bid in a 2-3 year period would be all it would take for him to cement a career at an SEC school.

Why can't we get Bruce Pearl?

And as far as a Michael White goes, I think we can do better. We have a brand new arena in a power conference. We may not be able to do as good as Bruce Pearl, but we would be settling for Michael White.

Because he's not dumb enough to take this job given the challenges of being the basketball coach at AU now. My guess is we'd have to offer a mil more a year than the next best offer to have any shot at getting him.

I don't see how you're assuming White would be "settling". All evidence points to the contrary.

And Pearl isn't coming to AU. He'll have a lot better offers on the table with more established programs.

Wow, no just no.

Because every basketball school with an opening will want Bruce Pearl, it's not happening.
