This years roster around 5.5.

This seems off to me. Hall and Tahaad are at least 4-4.5 by themselves eh? No way the rest of the roster was only a mil.

Regardless, definitely need more investment to be successful in basketball during the NIL age. No way we are building a final four roster for less than 8-9 mil without extreme luck. Every good player seems to be getting at least 2 mil these days.

I had heard Haad was 1.4 and Hall was 1.8.

If we are spending 5 million what are the rest of the SEC schools spending?

Quick Google search says we are at $8-10MM for this season and it is "middle to lower tier" compared to other SEC teams.

ETA: For comparison, Kentucky is reported to be around $21MM. Which is around what Auburn reportedly spent on the football roster this year

That is crazy money for a basketball roster.

Yeah, the decision makers at Auburn are gonna have to make a decision on whether football or basketball is more important. It doesn't seem that we will be able to spend with the big dogs in both sports.

All those numbers are inflated. We don’t have a $10m basket roster. We are just about $15m on football.

I seriously doubt UK has a $21m basketball roster. I would guess closer to $10m maximum.

When I think about NIL it just makes me mad. I dont like NIL costs kept Bruce from adding another stud 4 last year. That could have been the difference in Final 4 and championship. Chaney Johnson was a God send because Lord knows his backup was NOT up to snuff.

I hate the idea of loading down players pockets, stupidly, but at tbe same time admitting we have to thus I feel like a sell-out. Yaxel is not worth 3 million but at the same time we needed him in Auburn. Very conflicted.

Im in the same boat as you. I hate the NIL world, but your favorite team must pay up to compete. It sucks, but its the world we are stuck in for now.

Xavier Chaplin and Mason Murphy make me irrationally angry since they both got paid handsomely and suck so bad at playing football.

Realistically I dont see Auburn ever paying 3 million for a Yaxel. If we cant get our championship caliber team another stud 4 we wont ever. Boosters and NIL can hold that L, too

Well, Michigan crushed Gonzaga 101 to 61 last night.

NIL has turned college sports into mini-pro teams.

I don’t see how they got such quality depth.. Must be nice to have that many wealthy alumni

That big boy Johnson is a wrecking machine and only a soph. There 6-9, 6-9, 7-3.

Just think going forward some schools like aTm and Texas are committing between $40m-50m for football rosters.

I think the goal for us to get to $25m and try to work toward $30m.

That is absolutely insane.

Basketball will always work somewhere between $5m-8m. Last years basketball team was around $7m

Is there an official source who reports the nil expenditures or all the numbers in this thread just guesses?
