It’s better to do it against NM than be forced to do it during SEC play. If it works great, if it doesn’t we see Thorne in the second half..

True. I don't know why we couldn't just midgame bench Thorne when he was rattled. Mightta still won that game.

benched him, TJ came in and showed a) he could manage some late-game heroics (with a little J-H voodoo from the refs) to salvage what would have been a devastating loss and 2) his abilities were far too limited to be the #1
Nix actually went out the next week and almost singlehandedly did something no AU QB had managed in more than two decades
