Well to be fair most of the time is just a quick drive by to see if there's any news. I don't have as much time to post as I used to have. And honestly I just don't follow it as closely as I used to. Recruiting is a lost cause for me and Malzahn runs such a tight ship we never have much anything juicy happening these days
One month from now the board will be kicking again I'm sure

Agree. I just dont find it as fun as I once did. Plus, you cant really have an opinion about recruiting on this board unless its very positive. Ive never seen people get so bent out of shape about something they have zero knowledge about and have zero affect on
But I enjoy the banter here. Regardless of the subject

Not for me bitches. I will be on vacation the entire month of August and the last week of July. Y'all on your own

Going on vacation right when the board will get busy again.. Coincidence? I think not!!

I've caught one and jumped a ton. Most were at the CG station in Miami... Not much hope of landing the big ones surrounded by boats and pilings.

I go when I can. Last week of July is family vacation. Then back home 6 days then off to the caribbean for 24 days.
August is always the best month for my wife and I go vacation. She works in a Pharmacy in the hospital with about 30 pharmacist who all want weeks off in June and July. No way she can get enough days off that time of year for us to do our typical "extended" vacations. Plus, August is probably my slowest time of the year for guide trips and tackle sales. If I am going to shut my two businesses down for a few weeks, August is the time to do it. Last but not least, I am a lizard. I love the heat.... August is always hot, sunny and not as crowded in the caribbean....
I will get back from my trip on Thursday before we play Ark. St. Unpack on Friday, head to JHS on Saturday morning.

You are living my dream. It is my career ambition to get to the point where I can pretty much spend the entire summer in the Caribbean. Very jealous of you!!!! I would like to move everything to an online business to allow me to work remotely, but the crazy thing is that the local part of my business is growing more than I expected which requires me to stay in town more.

Mine too bro.... But it has not and is not easy. I think a lot of people look at what I do and think how easy it is with rainbows and unicorns... Noting ever is..
Dont get me wrong, I love what I do and there may only be one thing I have ever done that I would replace my career with. But I had to work hard as hell to get here and I still probably work more hours per week than any person on this site. And I still guide 3-4 days per week.
What I do takes a few things. One is the right wife. Patience and you have to be resourceful. I basically do everything there is to do with both my companies. From building baits, working on my own boat, taxes, building my own website, maintaining all my documentation, etc. Today I spent most of the day packaging baits. Dumb monotonous work but I watched tv while I did it, posted a few times on the internet, got when and where the hell I wanted it and probably saved myself $600-$800 by doing so. Yesterday I painted night time spinnerbaits all day. Hell, I use someone from this very board to help me with my art work. I send him pieces, he does his magic and I pay him.
I didnt start out doing this but I always had a idea I wanted to run my own small company. I hold a 4 year EET degree and used it about 13-14 years before I ventured off. Worked for two companies out of college (tech school) and both relocated. Did not want any part of that so I didnt go back to work
As for the Caribbean thing, man I am with you. My wife and I will be relocating south in about 4-5 years. Been working on that for almost 12 years... I would wait 4 more years, sell everything I own and move to St Croix but my wife wont do that.
Our oldest son (20 y/o) will keep her from doing that. My 16 year old son is Autistic and will live with his mom and me forever. He is barely on the spectrum but will need to be around us and we will take him where ever we go..... As you may remember, my daughter has passed so the 20 year old is our anchor now.
IF you want to try it, my tackle business will probably be for sale in about 4-5 years. You can take a swing at it.

Awesome. Unfortunately, I don't have the slightest clue about bait and tackle so I wouldn't be able to purchase your business. I practice immigration law and over the last year or two I have been trying to grow the online portion of my practice to where I can work remotely (people wanting visas abroad and stuff like that). The crazy thing is that my immigration court work has blown up (thanks to Trump) which means I have to appear a lot more often in local immigration courts than I did before so my objective of working remotely has backfired in a way even though my business has taken off. It's my dream to just do visa work and prepare visa petitions remotely. Not even close to getting there yet, but that is my goal.

Thats another way to go.
But I need her to make a salary while I built my business and to cover our benefits... Medical and Dental for us and the kids. Plus, she makes a hell of a samich......

The real question is whether her sandwiches or your baits are better. Maybe she should open a deli.

She claims when we move to the beach, she is going to run her own food truck. So you may be right. She has joked about that for years.
When I move to the beach, I am not opening anything that does not have a warning on the bottle.

Never turn down a decent chance at more cashflow on whatever hours she wants with a way to create a little private time.
