I'd rather have Gary Patterson or jimbo over Petrino, even though I really do think Petrino is a better coach than jimbo.

But if we can't get either of those two I really would rather have Petrino. No malzahn, no strong, no fedora. Those aren't the coaches we need IMO.

And I'm talking realistic coaches here. No like Jeff Fischer and shite like that. Just names that have been thrown around

Pretty much exaclty as i feel except i'd prefer petrino over fisher and know that jimbois not coming to auburn so i don't even put him in my who is acceptable list...which at this point stops with petrino

From Goldberg:

quote:

AUBURN, Alabama – Auburn's list to be the school's next football coach is now more than a half-dozen names long, but no one has been interviewed for the vacancy created when the school fired Gene Chizik on Sunday.

A couple of new names have emerged in TCU coach Gary Patterson and Boise State coach Chris Petersen.

Auburn interviewed Patterson four years ago when it hired Chizik. Patterson has a 116-34 record at TCU in 13 seasons.

There has been speculation that Arkansas is considering Patterson, too.

Auburn is also considering former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino, Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart, Arkansas State coach Gus Malzahn, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher, and, likely, Louisville coach Charlie Strong, according to someone familiar with the process.

Athletics Director Jay Jacobs and Bo Jackson, Pat Sullivan and Mac Crawford form the search committee. Auburn has not announced whether it will hire an established search firm to help determine candidates.

Petrino was 34-17 in four years at Arkansas. He was 41-9 in four years at Louisville. He was 3-10 in 2007 with the Atlanta Falcons.

Great to see Patterson's name.

I'm not quite sure why, but Patterson has been always been number one on my list. I think he'd do great things here.

Maybe it's his absolutely absurd, nasty win percentage?

Or his ability to take a WR, make him a starting QB mid-way through the season, and still win.

Yeah, that's probably it. Just feels like the right guy to come in and turn things around.

He just looks like an Auburn coach. Tough defenses. Hes definitely my #1 on the list. I hope we can sway him our way.

...and all of this.

Has been my #1 choice when the Chizik's Going Down rumors started spreading a good bit.

Oh, don't play with my emotions like this, Charles. I would lose my mind if we hired either one of them. I don't think my heart could handle the excitement.

I think both are still longshots, but I'm just glad that those names have finally been written by an AU reporter.

Petersen, Patterson or Petrino. Gotta be one of the three. Make it happen, Auburn!

Ohhh shite.

No there is no way they hired a coach that fast unless they were already in talks with the candidate long before the Chiz was fired.

Same here.

Honestly, as long as we don't end up with another Chizik-type hire, I'll be fine.

(I'd even be okay with Petrino.)

I would hope that after aTm beat us like a drum someone was talking to somebody, if not before then.
