I think Patterson or Jimbo would be the proverbial home run hires.
If we can't get either of them, then I would be fine with Larry Fedora or Charlie Strong who have both shown they can win. Gus would be okay as a fallback, but he just isn't very experienced as a head coach.
Petrino is a good coach, no doubt, but IMO he just has too much baggage. He has made numerous poor decisions that have negatively affected the places where he has been a coach. He has tried to take the job from an old boss, quit on a team in the middle of the season, betrayed his wife, and lied to his current boss. And yes, I think some things are more important than winning football games. If we hire him I am sure I will deal with it and still support the university, but I won't be happy with the decision.
