quote:Count him down as a "hell no" from me. We're in the shitter right now because of his quarterback recruiting. Cam Newton, sure, thanks to Trooper and Luper. Clint Moseley, Tyrik Rollison, Kiehl Frazier, and Zeke Pike? Those are the guys Gus Malzahn wanted. And I'd rather hire an offensive guru like Petrino over Malzahn.
Malzahn I really wouldn't mind seeing him at the helm.

To be fair, Malzahn also wanted Jeff Driskel. Clint M and T Rollison were last minute pickups, not first choices. He went after better talent, just missed on a few.

Well the one he landed isn't exactly a hit.

I don't think you can fault Malzahn for the terrible play of Frazier... KF was an elite level recruit on every pay-site out there. He had offers from all over, including one from in-state bobby petrino and arkansas (who took brandon mitchell who looked terrible in limited PT this year, but that's another topic all together).
I also don't see how you can fault GM for the terrible coaching he's received in the last 10 months. And FWIW Malzahn also recruited Tyler Wilson to Tulsa, and may have had him committed IIRC... he can't get credit for that, just like he shouldn't be blamed for KFs lack of development.
And that's not so say I'm in favor of Malzahn... I don't think he'd take the job anyway, especially after his wife's experience the last few months,

Gus looked like crap last year because instead of telling our pussy defense to adapt or die to the speed we slowed it down.We should have pushed our defense to fight just like every other team.Chip Kelly does not slow his system down at all.

the fact is no QB can be effective with our abysmal OL... it's been that way for 2 years now. Until some of these guys step up and actually block somebody, it'll be more of the same.
I think Grimes did a fantastic job his first two years here, but we're lacking up front... a change in attitude wouldn't be a bad thing, at this point.

You mean when he had juniors already developed that turned into seniors? Hell Grimes almost cost us the NC in 2010 by starting The Matador. And chose him again in 2011.

Driskel is not the greatest QB in the world. He is just not a scared little bytch like Mocha Nighmare

What about last year when KF looked like hot garbage?

Meh. Now we know not to recruit QBs that play in white christian leagues in NW Arky.

Two days after the Iron Bowl, university president Jay Gogue will tell us whether Gene Chizik will have coached his last game or whether he'll return for a fifth season. At least that's the plan. We'll probably get the official word that athletics director Jay Jacobs is going nowhere. Maybe we'll know what the future holds for Tim Jackson, the executive associate athletics director who really does operate like a general manager of football.
If Chizik is retained, will he be required to make staff changes? If he is, will Gogue or even Jacobs believe he can hire the kinds of coaches he would need when the view in coaching circles is that he meddles with his coordinators beyond what is reasonable and that he would be on the thinnest of ice if retained?
Just paraphrasing of course.

I hate his writing style. Is PM a good writer? Will he lose his double chin?

Chizik and Petrino HAD the same agent (Russ Cambell), Petrino changed agents k. Gaining steam, if Auburn offered, Petrino would jump.
