Morris wasn't fired year one. He was fired at the end of season 2 (they had 2 games left).
Also, his record was 4-18. Harsin is nowhere near that bad.

Agree. The portal will be a factor as well. I guess my larger point is we aren't lacking in coaching and program management with Harsin.
But what can you even point to which prove the statement you just made? We aren't lacking in coaching? We lost multiple games last season to less talented teams, in which we held leads at halftime - which means that we were out-coached and out-adjusted. We just played San Jose State at home and won by 8-points - did we look to be the significantly better coached team to you? The team wasn't even disciplined, as you saw way too many penalties, and they were being committed by your so called senior "leaders" (eg: Shenker).
Your second point is even more ridiculous. Program management means identifying issues and finding solutions. He inherited a team that had years of poor OL recruiting and he has done NOTHING to change that! We have signed 1 HS OL (2 if you count the kid who just followed Friend from UT) and brought in zero transfers. Our numbers at the position are horrific: we must replace almost the entire line after this season, and there is no one on the current roster at the backup level who has really done anything or proven that they can even play at this level.
At QB, the most important position on the field (he played QB!), we are somehow in a position wherein he is relying on TJ Finley to save his job in year #2. This is VERY POOR MANAGEMENT. The QB that he inherited and let transfer off the team is better than anyone we currently have hopes of starting this season. That means that he has actually downgraded at the starter position. I'll give him credit for finally bringing in "depth" at QB, but so far all he has accomplished is to amass three backup-calibre QB's. Again, this is an offensive minded coach who is coaching in an era of football wherein your entire season basically depends on how good your QB is, and so far he has failed miserably to do anything to find a difference maker. His big offseason acquisition is sitting at THIRD STRING on the depth chart.
I can also point out to you that this team desperately needed an impact transfer WR to be brought in; and our big acquisition at that position (Koy Moore) has ONE reception after two games. Several of the transfer options that we tried to get and missed on are already showing production for their new teams. Koy Moore is listed as a backup to Malcolm Johnson Jr - a guy who still hasn't put anything together on the field. Again, this is poor program management in an area where the need for immediate impact production was massive.
From a program management perspective, he has actually been below-average. You are free to counter any of my points and tell me what exactly you see to suggest otherwise. Do you know what the problem for yourself and others that can't see fault in him are? You just take his persona and what comes out of his mouth at face value. Yes, he SOUNDS like a proper "football coach" and he says all the right things. But he's 15 games into this thing - talk means literally nothing. Most of what he had actually "planned" to do has not worked out at all!
1) His planned replacement for Mike Bobo (Austin Davis)
2) His planned replacement for TJ Finley (Calzada)
3) Bolstering of the weak OL through the transfer portal (missed on ~5+ clear targets and now has to settle for starting the same group as last season).
4) Bringing in difference makers at WR (missed on like 10 transfer targets and finally settled on Moore, and freaking Dazalin Worsham).
You can't just tell me that you're going to coach the team hard and we'll work hard and that's it. That's a freaking sound-bite. Give me a quantifiable improvement that has actually been made. One that can be measured on the field.

I mean I wasn't really advocating he be fired after last year and, yes, the optics would have been pretty terrible. I am however completely convinced he is not the coach that is going to lead us to where we want to be and barring significant improvement on the field and on the trail over the next 3 months I don't see any point in delaying the inevitable after this football season.

If you get it, why keep making the same statements?
You're making statements as if nothing has actually transpired and no games have actually been coached. "He's a great coach and a great program manager". Literally nothing that he has actually done suggests this to be true.
This is actually already at a similar point in Malzahn's tenure when all he could do was talk. So far all Harsin has done is talk and say "the right things". The difference is that Malzahn is a goofball, whereas Harsin has the allure of a "real coach", so I guess it's more convincing?
He's coaching and running this program as if we are in the G5. That's the issue. A lot of what he seems to think will work probably did work OK in the MWC. Oh you missed on all your transfer portal OL targets? No worries, the current group will just lift weights extra hard and we'll maul people. This is the mindset of someone who doesn't understand the level of competition. This is reflected in his care-free attitude towards recruiting wherein he is constantly late and outworked.
But anyway, nothing else needs to be said. We're all going to pray that TJ Finley and the OL hold up against real competition and prove to be adequately improved from last season. I guess miracles can and do happen.

We absorb the same information and come to completely different conclusions. I have no doubt you're successful in your career and have good judgment. I've done fine too.

Your record is what you are. We're 2-0. If we end up 6-7 again I think you have a point.

You ignore this and his previous recruiting because you don't like Harsin. Saying negative things is how you emotionally respond.
