So I guess Shane Beamer is a shite coach, since Chokelahoma is beating them down. They needed the refs to beat Auburn.

Curt Cignetti is in his 15th season as a HC. He became a HC at age 50 and had 13 seasons of exp3ereince before Indiana gave him a shot.

They didn't just anoint him ~7 games into his head coaching career,

I have seen his posts for a while. He is usually smarter than this. Must be a Kelly fan.

What do you know about his conference?

I know that they have moved from D2 to the ASUN to Conference USA in just a few years. I know they took Auburn to the wire a decade ago, then started moving up from their D2 classification. They won their first major bowl game in their first year or D1 in the A-SUN. They weren't eligible to win the conference then. I know that Rich Rod built the program up to be a top CUSA team and they are still holding strong (undefeated) in the conference. They're the favorites to win over teams like Liberty (lol), Western Kentucky, LA Tech, Sam Houston ( Texas' best win this season).

It isnt my first choice by any means, but anyone dismissing it over Sumrall or Jamey Chadwell is lying to themselves.

For the record I dont want Sumrall or Chadwell either.

If the football Gods want to help us afford James Franklin we just need to accept it.

Sumrall , Kelly, and Chadwell aren't doing any better than 9 wins a season.

I'd love to find some alpha originality at HC. Someone that will be gold as HC and cheap as a dime but we are not Florida. Only Florida can hire Todd Goldens

Rodney Garner HC

Rodney is purely a DL coach and you can go to hell for even suggesting otherwise.

Jang, why would Franklin turn out any better than Mark Richt at Miami?

Why would Franklin fight through the inevitable struggle at Auburn given how tired and worn out he likely is at this point? He couldn't even fight at Penn State where he had the program rolling. He immediately rolled over and lost the team.

I dont know. Mark Richt did not really support Miami culture.

I sure dont want his baggage but I am at a loss of suggestions if we can't hire from Indiana, GT, or Louisville- teams usually inferior to Auburn

The days of just pulling coaches is over. I explained this about Cignetti. Expanded playoffs means you don't need to be one of just ~4 teams to make it to the final competition. The transfer portal means that not only can the blue-blood schools no longer hoard talent, but any school with the right coach and some money can build a winner. Finally, the changes to the conference alignment and TV deals means that all of these schools are raking in more money than they ever have, which means that they can pay to retain coaches. All of these combine to make it much less enticing for someone who is already succeeding to leave. If you are already winning, why leave to "hopefully" turn around a losing team with a bigger name?

The answer to this change doesn't mean that you just default to some theoretically "safe looking" unemployed retread who just got shite-canned because his program collapsed in the span of literally 3 games (which is wild).

He's coached all over Alabama, Atlanta, Knoxville, Tallahassee, Thibedeaux, LA....The guy has roots all over the south. A guy involved in HS and college football all over the south

The answer is not where but with whom?

Kirby Smart spent 90% of his pre UGA days in one place.

Saban was under Don James and Bill Belichick.

Pat Dye - Bear Bryant.

Charles Kelly is not terrible, but if we are down to him as a possibility,
it would be silly not to hire Glenn Schumann or DJ Durkin.

Any combination of DJ Durkin and Bobby Petrino would have us in the playoffs at least the 2 of 4 years.

Any hire of an up and comer because of Alabama ties would be ridiculous.
