Went over to the Rant, like someone else said somewhere, and if you don't want Kiffin now the Ole Miss fans will make you want to take Kiffin just for spite. If we don't hire him, I hope he pulls a Lane special there like only he can, and forces them to fire him

I do. And I know it doenst matter to you because Bruce is on the plains and not in Athens.

Jang on the other hand needed something to debate. So he pulled the Malzahn card

Well then don’t pull the “all it takes is winning” card then, St Lanier.

Well this is where I think you’re disconnected from most of the rest of us (definitely me). I don’t think most of us would care that Bruce lied about the BBQ if he was employed at a rival.

That’s not to say we wouldn’t relentlessly troll that fanbase but the moral outrage would not be there. I just can’t care any less about the NCAA. If we’re talking about sleazy then they’re the epitome of sleazy.

As it relates to Freeze, I think there’s obviously a balancing scale, right? Not all transgressions are equal. On one side of the scale for Bruce is that he got fired at UT because of the show-cause put on him for lying his arse off about the bbq. The other side of the scale is a guy who had a long enough track record as a winning mens basketball coach in the SEC. To me, that lie doesn’t begin to tip the scale in comparison to what he could bring to our men’s basketball program.

For Freeze - that scale isn’t as lopsided. I’m not as impressed by his Ole Miss program. I am not sold on his recruiting NOW that everyone can fairly openly buy players. I’m concerned how long he’s been removed from a P5 program. And yes, the relatively long list of character issues is a red flag. But I’ve stated many times that those character issues, for me, are at the bottom of my concern list for Freeze. You’re right in that regard. I’m willing to look past someone’s behavior if they win. I’m just not convinced Freeze will win. And I don’t think Bruce lying to the NCAA was a big deal

I will say I disgree with you on this but I will leave it at that

I honestly never even thought or imagined Freeze in any of this conversation.

But I could not see a morality issue with Freeze if you dont have one for Pearl. Though their transgressions are different, I dont think there is a line that can be drawn that close. If you are OK with you, I think you have to be ok with the other

And to agree with you, I am not interested in Freeze more due to his work at Ole Miss and his upside. Has nothing to do with strippers and blow

My argument was legit. You’re just being an arse.

And yeah, Lanier has shitted on Pearl 10x more than he praises him. And Lanier claiming I have brought Gus up to every discussion of his is a damn lie as well. He is a POS that needs to go back to irrelevance for another couple months.

I’m sure you’ll understand this, considering it’s me, but I’m not taking sides here

I’ve only agreed with Lanier on the fact that you like to debate. Which is the truest thing said on this thread to date.

Freeze’s transgressions would have been morally questionable even if the NCAA had no rules.

i think going back that far is inappropriate. the game is much different today than it was in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and even some of the 80s. i'm going to update this to a more recent start date. thanks for sharing the link, this site is cool.
I concur. Just thought the whole 'historical record' thing can be pretty unrepresentative if you include the years when they wore leather helmets and played in front of hundreds instead of tens of thousands.

Our winning %age is even better if you go back to the beginning of the Dye Era, even though we drop to #12 overall (F$U moves past us).

I know why he said that and you agreed. Last time you said I “just wanted to argue” I ended up proving you wrong. Something to think about.

Lying about a BBQ is equal to more than a dozen calls to hookers on your university issued phone?

That's a strange equivalency you're drawing between the two.

But lets call it what it is. It was lying about having illegal contact and benefits to a recruit. And that was lying to the NCAA who like it or not is the governing agency at the time.

I think you are takin it wrong. I dont have a issue with Pearl and I dont have a issue with Freeze any differently. They may be different but I just dont think you can be Ok with one and not the other.

I can and I absolutely am.

One is a BBQ. I have hosted and been to hundreds. It's a normal life event.

One is illegal in 49 1/2 states and you can go to jail for. Not a normal life event and would usually end a marriage.

Someone opening the car door into me in a parking lot sucks, but isn't the same as running a red light and T-boning me.

To you, it would be the same.

Why?
