Why do we have an official who everyone knows tries to take over every game he refs?

They suck from youth to ymca to middle school to high school college and the nba. It’s an impossible sport to officiate. Best thing is almost street ball rules no blood no foul

I don’t get how they all suck. Is it because they’re too close to the action that it fricks with their vision?

It is tough to officiate no doubt.
They don't all try to suck, but there are some who think people have bought tickets to watch them officiate a basketball game.
Those are the ones who try to suck in order to feed their egos.
Oglesby, Pat Adams, Doug Shows, Doug Sirmons, Teddy Valentine. They all think they are the star of the show.
Feel free to add those who I have overlooked.

MLB umps are the worst of any sport. They really try to insert themselves into the game. At least they have some instant replay stuff now, so it’s gotten a little better.

Fan02, the games are moving to 2:30 due to replays. There is zero flow.
Go to NFL where the team has 1 review per half. Yesterday, the 1st half was fantastic, 2nd half was terrible. They go to the video just cause the bench starts screaming and then there is a no foul upgrade. A option is eliminate the TV scheduled TO’s if they are gonna keep doing.
We have 3 refs on the court, that is plenty to catch what needs to be caught.
