If we don't get scoot

Wendell
Desi
Allen
Jabari
Walker

Or

Wendell

Devan

Would us getting Desi be a sign that our coaches aren’t confident in Scoot? We have one spot left and Thornis likely to stay. What am I missing?

Some of the reporters have talked about Bruce liking him off the bench. So there’s that

I’m wondering why he would transfer to take another backup role. The reason he transferred was bc he no longer started.

Zep Jasper and Wendell Green Jr didn’t transfer to Auburn to sit either, though I don’t see Sills taking much time from Green Someone is sitting when the game starts and Desi is a guy Auburn had held off on letting commit for several weeks now. It’s believable that he might be the one coming off the bench at 2. That’s about as far as people have taken this train of thought. We’ll see what happens

We’re in a good spot knowing a good guard is going to be coming off the bench, no matter who it ends up being. Plus I think people are rightfully putting more emphasis on who closes games now. Who is on the court with the game on the line?

Anyway. I don’t think it’s that interesting of a question. There will be minutes available for all of them

Oh.. well then that totally settles it.

Our 3 G additions all offer something different. Would you rather have your starting 2 guard play point in a backup role after starting at the 2 or a true competition/possible rotation at PG between Green and Jasper?
Our coaches know that our biggest need with Cooper leaving, were PGs and we addressed that immediately. Desi is an off guard that can score in bunches.
I truly believe that Bruce will get the most out of Desi.

Edit: If Jasper ever wants to be an NBA player, it will be at PG.

Nope. Didn’t say that. Just pointing out it’s not just a fan thing. That’s all

FWIW, I definitely see a scenario where Green and Jasper work mostly at PG and Sills and Alexander work mostly at 2.

My hesitancy on who starts comes by how the staff has prioritized the transfers. Taking Sills after missing/passing on Tyty (who I liked at the 2 as well) and Scoot not reclassifying also makes wonder what his role will be. Ultimately, not sure it matters once he’s on the roster. They’ll play the best guy

If Bruce likes, I like. We have improved our roster. Our guards outside of Shariffe was shittastic last year.

We basically only had one true ball handler Now we have 3+. Huge, huge difference and our guards are both multiple and experienced. That’s so important

Jasper isn't a 1

I think I’d rather have Thor back than Scoot if I could choose. Our roster is pretty close to making a run next season. Thor will be a key cog in that run.

Agreed but he’s played lots of 1. He will start and primarily play the 2 but will be the primary backup to Green at the 1 as well. Much like Samir Doughty in 2019-2020

JAsper is a combo guard, so he can play the 1, if needed as a backup..Which we need.

It's funny, during the basketball season, we struggled at different times with only 1 true pg, sometimes NO PG bc of injuries, and times when we only had 2 guards to man 2 spots.
Now we have 4 guards with a possible 5th if Scoot for some reason still wants to reclassify.

Crazy huh! Thank goodness for the transfer portal and the new rules on transfering.

I just heard on Twitter today from some Auburn fan that Thor isn’t taking any classes this semester. If it’s true, it sucks
