Auburn HC Bruce Pearl on Stretch Akingbola: “I’ve got 18 players on my roster. Seventeen are American. The one who was born in Nigeria is my best communicator.”

Auburn forward Danjel Purifoy said freshman center Stretch Akingbola is already showing signs of becoming a vocal leader.

“I haven’t ever seen something like that in a young guy.”

Heck yeah. Stretch might be just what the doctor ordered with the loss of Horace, in more ways than one.

Auburn guard Samir Doughty says freshman Isaac Okoro “has been shooting a lot better than many people would expect.”

If Okoro can get a consistent perimeter game to go along with his elite defense, watch out.

Good article on Okoro. Makes you think we have a real gem. Hopefully Kawhiish

A fan asked Corey Evans about the dominoes effect of losing out on Jaemyn Brakefield.

quote:

For Auburn, replacing Anfernee McLemore is the greatest concern. I don’t give the Tigers a great chance with Greg Brown, which could see them place a greater priority on Chris Moore.
Freshman Jaylin Williams will have to show that he has what it takes to fill the small-ball power forward role this season. Either way, both programs may begin to cast a larger net this fall.

Priceless quote from CBP.

Who is he referring to in the "both programs may begin to cast a larger net this fall"?

And it seems that to replace Anferee, Pearl is possibly going to have to settle on another project. As it seems even though we have been in the top 2-3 of some 5* 4 and 5 positions, we have not been that high 2 to possibly get them to pick Auburn.
I am assuming that Stretch is the future 5? therefore we are looking for a strong 4..if Williams doesn't pan out...

Generally, I think he means that we are going to have to look into backups plans. Chris Moore may be the backup plan that we go after harder now.

[NEW] Ashton Hagans admits he took Auburn lightly in the Elite Eight and didn’t get himself ready for that game.

It’s been eating at him ever since. The good news for Kentucky: Regret can be a powerful change agent.

Auburn nearly went 2-1 against Kentucky last year if Harper made that layup in first game.

Florida is now out of the running for Matthew Murrell after taking 4* SG Niels Lane. Gators had been trending big for MM.

AU & Louisville. The tweet asked how it affected both schools.

What a joke of a reflective comment.

It's the Elite Eight buddy. No one takes anyone lightly in a playoff situation, especially any team that gets to the final 8.

He's just giving excuses and putting it back on 'our' program, as not important enough to get UP for game...sure.

Cliff Omoruyi was visited by Pearl, Kentucky, and UCLA recently. He says he’s shutting down his recruitment until the end of his basketball season.

He’s a high flying dunker and often compared to Clint Capela.

Also from Nigeria just like Stretch.

Arizona State may be in the lead right now.

Forgot I borrowed into a friend’s account. As the great scholar Lil Wayne once said, “sorry for the wait.”

After Kessler’s commitment, Cliff Omoruyi and Jaylin Williams jump to the top of our board.
Pearl and Bowman visited Cliff Thursday for his birthday. Many schools are in consideration but we are the one constant. Bowman has been recruiting Cliff longer than anyone and we hope their bond plays off.

Flanigan visited Jaylin Williams, the number 10 center in 2020, last week as well and helped secure an OV for the Ole Miss weekend. Flanigan is trying to pull him from the state of Arkansas.

Accompanying Williams will be Chris Moore, another Rivals 100 player hailing from the state of Arkansas. This will be his second OV to Auburn. Arkansas desperately wants both in their class.

Matthew Murrell has visits to Ole Miss and A&M coming up, but will be done taking visits this month and plans to commit Christmas Day. His top 3 has been Auburn, Florida, and Vandy.

After Florida received a commitment from another SG, it is believed that the battle for his services will come down to Auburn and Vanderbilt.

Auburn will hold its first Tipoff at Toomer’s event Thursday, Oct. 17. It’s scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. CT.

The day and time aren’t conducive to having recruits attend. The event is geared more towards the fans.

Maybe next year we can make it work for recruiting too. Maybe have it happen on a Friday night of the bye week.

The day isn't the issue as much as how accesible recruits would be to fans at an event like that.
