Typical beatbammer reaction. You’ll never realize the difference between criticizing and irrationally blaming a player for a team’s success and failure

Yeah, the Jekyll and Hyde of Bryce Brown has absolutely NOTHING to do with Auburn basketball's success and failure in 2017-18 and 2018-19. OK.

When Brown is on the court he accounts for only ~21% of possessions according to KenPom the past two years
Impressive that you pin so much responsibility on a guy who is slightly above average in possessions

If you think the issues in 2017-2018 had anything to do with Bryce and not losing Mac then there isn't much to talk about, but I agree our team doesn't live or die with him. However, he must play better for this team to be more than a Sweet 16 level squad.

agree.
Brown is a starter and he mainly I think, along w/ Harper provide that spark or revs up that crowd bc they can hit a 3 from anywhere and when they are hot they put that spark into the team.
He only will cause us to lose if we only rely on him, but we don't.
So our problems are more than him for sure.

We have a team deep enough for a quality 10 man rotation. If an off night of just 1 starter guarantees a loss, we have bigger problems than a sole inconsistent player
More confusing though is that Brown's "Jekyll & Hyde" rate using KenPom ORating (even w/ injury games) was similar to Mustapha Heron's inconsistency rate in 17-18

Here is a highlight video of Auburn signee Okoro at his recent tournament. Okoro can really elevate, though it’s Sharieffe Cooper’s chemistry with Okoro that catches your eye tbe most. That tandem could be so deadly at Auburn.
As far as I know we are still the team to beat for Cooper.
Cooper actually won MVP at the tournament btw.

Might be a stretch, with Kentucky in the mix now..

Slang for no thanks for your negative information boss man.

I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just being realistic. Not saying there aren't exceptions but the pipeline Kentucky has built to the NBA is hard to argue against in recruiting and if Kentucky wants them, they generally get them.

As long as Auburn takes care of business this year I will feel okay about keeping Cooper. If our basketball team self destructs, then we are going to have problems holding onto him.
With Auburn reeling in two of his teammates, that may be the pipeline that will be the hardest for him to turn down.
Kentucky is still Kentucky but they’re not Duke and have lost many recruiting battles recently. As long as Kentucky is the third best team in the conference, we should be able to sell our program.

UK has been striking out consistently in recruiting in the past couple classes.
Giving the connections AU has to Cooper, teammates + AU success, this may be the unusual circumstance where AU > UK is probably the betting favorite for a recruit

Do you really think he is going to base his future off of how successful this Auburn team is this year? We wouldn't be in the conversation if Cooper wasn't already sold on Bruce Pearl.

What does that mean? There is a 0% chance this team self destructs but say we don't win the SEC, SECT and lose early in the NCAAT? Does that really change things?

Hopefully.. but I would expect he'll do what is best for him, whatever that is.

Third best team by what standards? Polls? I admire your passion but you're underestimating Kentucky basketball.

Could you post those horrible classes UK has had in the last few years? I'd be interested in comparing them to ours..

Hopefully you're right.. but I think it would be a steal/upset if we were to sign Cooper at this point. I'm holding out hope but 49% and trending down slightly by my gauge.

Most recent Cooper article
Sharife Cooper appears to be rising up Kentucky’s big board when it comes to the Class of 2020, and for good reason.
Rated the No. 2 point guard in 2020 by 247 Sports, Cooper led his team to a City of Palms championship victory on Saturday. He finished with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in their 68-47 win.
The 6-0, 160-pound guard is being heavily recruited by top programs across the country. He holds offers from a plethora of schools, including Kentucky, Auburn, UCLA, Tennessee, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, N.C. State, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Clemson and Texas A&M.
Thus far in the 2020 class, the only true point guard prospects offered by Kentucky are Cooper and Jeremy Roach. However, Roach suffered a torn ACL recently and appears to be trending elsewhere. That could mean Cooper is moving to the top of Calipari’s big board when it comes to 2020 point guards.
Omar Cooper, his father and AAU coach, spoke with Adam Zagoria about Sharife’s plans for official visits after the championship game.
“He’s supposed to be trying to get to Arizona, UCLA, trying to get back out to Kentucky, Auburn, try to take one to Duke to see Duke. Supposed to be going back up to see Rutgers. He’s supposed to be going up to see Mississippi State as well. Right now, we don’t have any officials locked in.”
UK assistant Tony Barbee was in attendance for the championship game. Cooper visited Kentucky in September before his high school season began.
“When we went to Kentucky, they were adamant about the expectations of being a Kentucky Basketball player, what it comes with. Being ready when you get here, the ball being in his hands. The people who came before him. They see him with the John Walls. There was a picture on the wall of John Wall and Derrick Rose and Cal, and he could be the next point guard in this picture and stuff like that.”
Those comparisons are high praise from Coach Cal. He’s a little smaller than Rose or Wall, but he’s still young. He’s already an excellent shooter, and could add size to his frame as he continues to develop.
Most recruiting sites have Auburn listed as his top school, but it’s still extremely early in the process. We’ll get a better gauge on his college rankings as he takes his official visits. In his interview with Zagoria, Omar made sure to confirm that Sharife is far from making a decision.
If he does decide to head to Kentucky, Cooper would join a list of great point guards to come out of Kentucky in the last few years, such as De’Aaron Fox and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

I would. It’s not like we have the tradition or the brand of Kentucky. Trajectory is still something I’d be paying attention to.

That would be underwhelming to me. Not really sure how Cooper would react to it.

As would I. All of Cooper’s goals can be achieved at Auburn though. His friends will be there too.

Auburn and Tennessee were the better teams last year. It’s very possible that could continue this year. And...thanks I guess. I still think you’re underestimating our chances to get him.

Like the one class where we couldn’t recruit anybody at all and actually lost EJ to Kentucky after other things went down? Great point.
