Bruce Pearl said Auburn will hold its Pro Day on Oct. 11 before the Tipoff at Toomer's event. Scouts from 28 NBA teams are committed to coming to Pro Day, and SEC Network is broadcasting from Toomer's: "That night, maybe all eyes in college basketball will be on us."

More to what exactly?

All of these allegations against Sexton are being uncovered in the past 48 hours

What are your thoughts on Bama's 'internal investigation' they conducted last year before handing Sexton a 1-game suspension?

It certainly seems as though this payment scheme would be the exact thing they would want to figure it with an investigation like that. Either someone didn't tell the truth, or the investigation was not thorough.

Collin was a five star. They wanted a Kangaroo court investigation.

The investigated was likely into the nature of a meeting between Collin Sexton and Chuck Person. This new information appears to be unrelated to that event and has no bearing on the investigation

My guess is that they crossed their t's and dotted all the i's. On known infractions, it is playing with fire to half arse an investigation. That often results in more serious penalties

It is a matter of scope. The investigation was into a Chuck Person meeting their AD learned through FBI arrest warrants.

More likely, no one asked those questions

Most compliance departments, Auburn included, don't actively go searching where they think dead bodies might be buried.

Nah, they just played stupid, like every compliance department in the country.

Auburn plays stupid too.

Never forget the old, accurate saying:

Every time Alabama gets caught cheating, Auburn gets put on probation.

Mark my words, Pearl will build this program into something legitimate. By the time Pearl is done here the name Auburn will carry some weight in CBB

I firmly believe this too! After this season, I expect Auburn to make a serious commitment to Pearl and his compensation. Another poster on another board (Hooks) said in the neighborhood of 4-5 million per year.

I love Pearl, but I see no reason to jack up his salary quite like that. There are probably better $ ways to make him happy + improve basketball

The important thing is making sure he feels secure and supported

- Buyout protection foor him/staff
- Increased Asst Salary pool
- Increased operations budget
- Facility upgrades and plan for future upgrades to stay ahead
- More basketball focus in AD priorities

Every year he wins we cam give him a raise to reflect that, doesn't need to be all at once

This. The difference in lifestyle in Auburn from a $3M vs $5M salary is negligible. That money is much better spent on making his job easier and it allows us to have a smoother transition and less fall off when Pearl is no longer the coach in 2042.

While I agree, I was going in a slightly different direction. Hooks is advocating for a big contract + buyout raise to signal Auburn is back to fully supporting Bruce and as a reward. I just think that is a waste of his bargaining position, since raises are actually pretty easy to come by

First the "raises are easy part.", Even in frugal times, It is easy to find $ to give a raise to an underpaid successful coach. Boosters get it and are receptive to that. Worst case, you could fund a $1-2mil raise/year with just a ~$10 ticket increase

Auburn will need to start thinking about facility/arena improvements in the next ~3-5 years. Things that even when AU is winning are a task to find funding. If I were Bruce, I'd be very worried about Gus potentially being bought out. If that happens, booster funding will effectively dry up for any major projects across the entire department

Basically, we should start planning far advance to create a plan and receive financial commitments for major basketball projects to ensure it doesn't get squeezed out football buyouts

Cliff notes version

Getting a ~$3mil raise like Hooks wants is cashing in some chips for something you could easily negotiate for later

Once you get paid though, AD often drops the ball on projects such as Gus with the new football facility and stadium improvements

So Gus being suck arse could potentially cost the basketball program. Great.....
