Having 5 or 6 players in one class is just asking for trouble. It creates logjams at positions

I'm fine with 5-6 in a class but the class has to be balanced between different types of recruits

- 2+ FR rotational/starter type players who you expect to leave early
- 1-2 Potential redshirts
- 1-2 JUCO/Grad Transfers

I wish Pearl starting taking more athletic projects with an intent on RS them. Would give depth/continuity + those lower recruited players usually accept their limited ealry roles

It's one my few gripes with Pearl so far.

Part of that was because his show cause affecting early recruiting combined with Barbee not handing over a roster

I agree though that Pearl's roster management has been at best concerning.

I agree. When I used class I meant in terms of eligibility not the actual recruiting year they signed. I'm fine with signing more than 3 or 4 in a recruiting cycle as long as it adds to a class(eligibility wise) that is short in numbers.

That is why we ended up with so many top players in one recruiting class (Heron, Harper, Anferee, WIley), we were so low those 2 years before bc Pearl's show cause issue, and just getting started with his recruiting.

Now that some are going pro or leaving, There will be hopefully, more staggering numbers of signees.

NCAA commission is releasing their recommendations for college basketball regarding the FBI scandal

Pretty interesting stuff

- Undrafted players can return to school like baseball

- Call NBA to end 1andDone, if they don't then either force FR to redshirt or freeze/lose scholarship of FR who declare for remaining 4 yrs

- Certify agents so players can access them early in their career

- Ban coaches from attending non High School events that don't submit to proper NCAA vetting (i.e Shady AAU events can't have college coaches attend)

- Require university presidents to certify they are in compliance

- Ban coaches for life who get caught cheating, or 5 years

- schools lose all postseason revenue/rev sharing when on probation

I know this ultimately comes down to the NBA, but I think baseball has it figured out. Obviously baseball is different with the farm teams, but I say let guys in HS declare and if they're good enough to get drafted then good for them. If not, they can either go overseas or have to stay in school for three years.

So do we have a legit shot at this Ricky Torres kid today that's committing? Believe he's only OV'd to Wichita State so I am guessing that's the pick

Tell me about this guy. Does he legitimately have a chance to start next year?

Not with Harper being here for another year. I’m sure SMU or Wichita State is more attractive for that reason.

I guess he wants to be a big fish in a small pond and not a key role player. Oh well. Good luck to him.

Torres commits to Wichita State

His interview basically eliminated Auburn from the start when he said he wanted to play somewhere that doesn’t already have a starting PG.

You mean he wants to be a big fish on a likely NCAA Tournament team?

WKU should be at worse an at large bid next season and could be a 6-7 type seed

Sure there is that. Just different paths to the dance. We were projected to be a top ten pick in a deep, competitive league.

The "pond" isn't much smaller when you transfer to a fringe top 25

I don’t remember the last time they were ranked in the top 25 much less make the tournament. I don’t even think Western Kentucky is a top five big fish in the Mid-tier pond, but okay. Even if you’re saying that Murray didn’t transfer to be a big fish in a small pond, it only puzzles the reasoning for why he left any more.

At a glance, they're losing 3 starting seniors and a pretty good chunk of their production. Don't know what else they have coming in, but they're definitely losing a ton.

They are returning their best player Bearden + 2 FR who avg >20mpg and played at a high level + 1 FR who avg 15mpg at a high level. Add in Murray + top 100 recruit Dalano Banton and that is a very good "top 6" with another 2-3 FR with decent experience

The real game changer is that it is widely expected that WKU will not only get 2019 5* #3 Charles Bassey but rumored he will reclassify to the 2018 class

Finally, Rick Stansbury may be a cheating POS, but the guy can coach basketball.... in the regular season
