Anybody have any idea of what grad transfers we're looking at?
We need to pick up a guard, and since Samir Doughty can play both spots that leaves some flexibility as to whether or not we go after a PG or a wing.

Here's the most highly recruited guards still available:

Ryan Taylor, Evansville
Matt Mooney, South Dakota
Mike Cunningham, USC Upstate
Aaron Calixte, Maine
Joseph Chartouny, Fordham
Joe Cremo, Albany
Keyshawn Woods, Wake Forest

All these guys are talking to quality P5 programs. Duke, Arizona, Louisville, Oklahoma, FSU, Mizzou, etc are teams interested in these guys. Hopefully Bruce can work his magic and land us one of them, because there seems to be a drop off after who I listed.

His final list is Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Auburn

He visits Texas A&M this week, Ole Miss the following week and working on dates for his visit to Auburn

Seems like a good possibility right? Of note, I saw the tweet the same date Heron declared. Could be a coincidence.

I definitely think he is a possibility, but only because he has 3years eligiblity. Dought he is an immediate contributor (may even RS). He'd probably fix the void of having only 2 SG/SFs eligible (doughty/purifoy) for 2019-2020 season, 0 for the 2020-21 season

Our major issue is injury risk right now. We seem to be content X's Os wise with PG Harper + Doughty as backup. An injury to either really puts a strain at the PG position, of which Doughty isn't even ideally suited for to begin with

While we knew he was gone already, EJ Montgomery committed to Kentucky

Sucks that we not only lost EJ but now have to play him

At least it was UK and not Alabama or UGA.

He never seriously considered either. It was Duke/UK for him pretty much the day he decommitted, maybe UNC had a shot as the 3rd

50.3% 3 PT FG on 5.8 Attempts per game.

That's elite shooting ability and I'll use a scholarship on 3 potential years of that 11/10 times so long as he is at least functional defensively.

I saw a tweet from Hooks today that hinted strongly that we would have a new assistant coach to announce soon. I'd heard rumors a few weeks back that we were interested in bringing Charlton Young back to Auburn. I'm a fan of Young and his recruiting abilities. It would be nice if that rumor turned out to be true.

In his highlight, he hits some step back 3s and contested shots too.

Seems like a solid athlete too, has some alley oops and dunks + moves pretty well for 6'5

He’s got a quick release too. I would definitely be on board with taking him.

Good move. We needed to add a game in Mobile. Wish we could have gotten a neutral site w someone but I'll take it

I wish they would throw one in @ the VBCC in Huntsville too. Neutral site game against MTSU or some non P5 opponent.

From Hooks on the Scout board about an assistant coach.

quote:

The person has been hired and announced to the team last week. I am sure all details will be released to public when all parties are ready. I would expect fairly soon. I personally like the hire.

A former player(I can't personally verify this but it's a widely held opinion on the scout board and based on the people who ask him questions I think that is probably a safe assumption) posted last week that a hire had been made and it is a former player. Speculation based on his post and Hooks confirming the time frame are that the new coach will be either Wes Flanigan or Adam Harrington.

I feel like we need more color on our coaching staff. How about Flanigan?

I like the idea. He has SE coaching experience for recruiting and has been a HC. Ive read that we interviewed him during the Final 4 so he makes sense in more than a few areas.

Harrington has a solid background. I know he's worked closely with KD in the past and is with Brooklyn currently, I believe.

I've read that too. I know the situations are different but tbh reading that gave me a Loefler/Tom Brady flashback.
