Would have been a legend. Had total package. Frustrating that he got hurt. Dude was amazing.

KenPom's Top 10 next year. I don't know if that is with or without Wiley. He isn't in the top 30 but I haven't seen the 2nd round so I don't know where he falls.
Here's my computer's top 10 for 2019 assuming everyone in @DraftExpress top 40 leaves: 1) Kansas, 2) Duke, 3) Villanova, 4) Auburn, 5) Kentucky, 6) North Carolina, 7) Nevada, 8) West Virginia, 9) Gonzaga, 10) Virginia, 11) Maryland.

I think Wiley would be protected gone, but Wiley likely wouldn't be a huge positive in these rankings
If his rankings include Wiley, it probably isn't a huge impact. Wiley is the least efficient post player we have returning (what KenPom uses)
Purifoy on the other hand is a huge positive for KenPom rankings

Well, if you looked at the KenPom ratings from 2016-17, you probably would have said that Horace was the "least efficient post player we have returning".
Horace improved between 16-17 and 17-18.
Maybe Wiley would/will too?

First off, no he wasn't. Still Wiley
Second, it doesn't make sense to use 2 yrs ago Horace since we have more recent data. All he has on Wiley is 1/2 season in 16-17
It's completely possible that Wiley is viewed as a non factor in his rankings too given he sat out

If you look at what KenPom loosely based his preseason rankings on, Wiley is almost a nonfactor if he is included

I just think saying "these ratings computed using stats from 2 years ago is what this player will be next season" is kinda ridiculous.
OK, Horace wasn't the worst. But everybody knows that in 16-17 Horace wasn't very good. AT ALL.
And yet in 17-18, he was very serviceable.
Its a natural progression. Even for Wiley. S'all I'm sayin'.

Not really, the system accounts for transfers who are in the same situation of sitting a yr. Lots of data out there on how transfers develop and perform in off year

I would point out his issues came with fouling/FT%, otherwise Horace was a solid and serviceable post player. He was a good bench player

Wiley
There is some revisionist AF history with how good Wiley was his first year amongst AU fans. I understand he was 17YO & expect Wiley to get a lot better, but he was a liability his FR year
If Wiley is included, I imagine they'll do some development projection, but looking solely on his prior production you cant reasonably project him to better than solid

Auburn hoops next year = MASSIVE potential. No seniors, add Samir Doughty, Danjel Purifoy, maybe Austin Wiley, and reclassified frosh ‘Stretch’ Akingbola.
Is it a sure thing that Akingbola is reclassifying?

Nearly every person who is considered an "insider" says it is happening. Hoke gets his bball info from Stephen Hooks though
There could be a curveball that causes problems, but seems like it is on track

Is the curve ball whether Wiley stays or not? I really don’t think it wise to tell him to wait a year for fear of him decommitting.

No if everyone who can come back next year does come back we will still have an extra scholarship available.

What is crazy to think about.. is if everyone returns, who would be the starters?
PG-Harper?
SG-Heron/Brown/Doughty?
SF-Heron/Purifoy?
PF-Purifoy/Murray/Okeke/AM?
C- Wiley?

1 Harper
2 Brown
3 Heron/Doughty
4 Purifoy/McLemore
5 Wiley
That's what it should be with Okeke, Mitchell, Spencer, Murray, and Dunbar off the bench in that order behind whoever doesn't start at the 3 and 4.
Also think Okeke could win that 4 spot. But think it's more likely to McLemore or Purifoy
