Now...I know we don't let outsiders in but I think we should make a list of which outsiders to let in

Is the river high?
It was high. We had to plan B it on a camping site due to the lack of sandbars. It was cold and windy too, which is always great for canoeing. Pretty stretch of river, big cypress trees and spanish moss, mostly quail plantations this far south.
That put us over 200 miles of the Flint canoed. Getting close to Seminole, probably a trip or two to finish in the lake. We need to go back north and grab some of the skinny water north of Sprewell Bluff. We are still debating how far north we want to go, it pretty much starts as a drainage ditch in Hartsfield Airport and turns into the longest free flowing river in GA.

Spring doesn't start until this weekend, when I'll be busting jaws on Martin. Phenomenal sprig spot fishing.

One of the best lakes to just go fishing on. I miss going there. I love it this time of year and in October

Yes. Yes it is
But its a lot of small fish

We fished Martin in mid-Feb. Over 100 boats and 14lbs won I think. It was miserable. Lots of (5) fish 8 lbs limits weighed in.
Think wife and I will go to Mitchell this weekend.

I started fishing Martin in 1983. It has always been that way. The issue there is the bait. Always has been.
Lots and lots of small fish

What was your favorite part of LM, fishing wise?
In terms of generalized fun and boating, I starting going to Lake Jordan in the summer. Much more smooth and way less people. New Jordan is a sweet little hangout spot.
By the way, The Social opens back up Friday afternoon at 3 and then a band will be playing at 7pm for those around LM.

Yep, but on light tackle they're a blast. When we went last year (me and my son, uncle as tour guide) we caught 92 the first day. Had a few 3+ spots and then some crappie thrown in.

I like most of it but I prefer the upper end. Let's say from the 280 bridge down to sandy creek area. Manoy Creek and out on the main lake islands around Woods island. I have fished the lower end and really like the clear water down there but I have done my best on the upper end.

Its a fun place for numbers and it always has been. It really has not changed much in 40 years. I think the lower end has gotten a little clearer and the fish seem to be holding a little deeper overall but its basically the same place
This is a open tournament from Lake Lanier last weekend. The majority of these fish are all spotted bass. And it is like this year round. Its why the Alabama DNR need to rethink their bait stocking program for Martin

Yeah. Martin doesn’t have weights like that. My partner finished top 5 in the state two day there a couple of years ago. He might have had 20+ over two days.
Jordan and Mitchell might be my two favorite Coosa lakes. I’m a big fan of both.
We’ve been all over the place so far this year: Martin, Eufaula, Alabama River, and have Lay next. I’ve sucked this year although I did catch a 6+ at Eufaula and got a check.

I’m at home with a kidney stone this morning. Nothing worse than passing one of those suckers.

I have had five of them. Best advice. Anyone can give you is to drink as much water as you possibly can. Until the point it makes you sick. its the only way to get it out of there.

That’s what I’m working on as we speak. This is my 2nd and I’m young compared to most that get them. Woke up and felt like I’d been stabbed repeatedly in the abdomen
