Some Alabama history I was reading

So, back in the early to late 1800s, Alabama tried to buy West Florida (Pensacola to Apalachicola-ish). After many failed negotiations, a sum was agreed to and the people voted to dewit. 1 MM. The Karen's got involved and said that is too damn high. So now we just have that little slice. That's the most Alabama thing I have read in a while. Feels like a Tuberville football season.

The bad part is that Alabama became a state in 1819, while Spain held on to the rest of West Florida. If they had waited 2 more years, which is when Spain gave up the rest of West and other parts of Florida, we would have been able to claim West Florida for Alabama.

Timing is everything...Sports, Beaches...etc :)

To be fair, I’m sure Alabama would have found a way to screw it up even if they had been able to buy the beautiful white sand beaches.
