Long way of saying, I could see why many wouldn’t want to stay an extra year with a new head coach coming off a 6-4 season.

We had 13 scholarship seniors. 5 coming back is a lot when you look at them individually
5 staying (Loy, Truesdell, Leonard, Wooten, Moultry)
2 transferred (Big Kat, Newkirk)
3 will try NFL (Peters, Britt, Stove
Other 3: Prince Sammons, Bill Taylor, Malcolm Askew

He committed to his HS coach, one of the assistants who was fired with cause. I don't even think Steele had been hired when he committed.

I could see him wanting the security aspect; however senior leadership skills aside it's seems wasteful to toss aside a second chance to excel.
...and because 4 years of KS hadn't extracted what was expected.
