Hey, yeah...sorry ya'll. That was bad, even for me, offseason or not. What I started out wanting to ask was if we could get a pinned thread, at least for a while, for people who grew up in the area, Auburn, Opelika, Lee County etc. I have found it is a really small world when we actually meet and talk with people in the AU family and I have been out of touch and away for a while and don't get back home, much less to any ball games, very often. I am sure many of us who grew up in the area have several good fishing or hunting spots, restaurants, places to see or things to do that maybe others don't know about, like Chewacla State Park, or "the rocks" on Saugahatchee Creek out out highway 14. past Loachapoka. Loachapoka's annual Syrup Sopping Festival, Opelika's Christmas stuff, canoeing Saugahatachee and other local streams and rivers, etc. Stuff like that. I hope this is legible enough. WDE. Nice to "meet" Alpine yesterday who was a year behind me at Auburn High. I am sure there are many more. Just an idea for the offseason....

eta: (hope this edit is also comprehensible, though I am on my 3rd bourbon and water) I went ahead and started the downvoting on my post, just 'cause. WDE. Thanks always to everyone who brings value, time, info, etc. to the boards.E, Jonesy and others always, but Metafour and New Jang especially have shot up my "better poster board". Thank you all, and many others who make our board better. WDE.

TL / DR version - Thanks to everyone who make this board better.

Hey Zach, and War Eagle.

I'm guessing you aren't 51 yet Zach. God bless and best of luck to you and everyone, every day. Tick tock. BOOM! You are 51, not a CGM recruit.

Time stops for no one, and life plans, etc. don't always work out as well as we "planned" or hoped. shite happens. I always look for silver linings - there are always plenty where Auburn / AU are concerned. Hit me up if I can help with anything Japan-related. War Eagle

I was always partial to Chuck's BBQ. But I did work there for a year or two also.

And great breakfasts and BLTs. I lived next door at Courtyard and spent a lot of time in Funchess across the street.

Leto, re: Chucks. Not sure when you worked there, but I would assume you know Ginger. Good friend and classmate. Good times and good BBQ.

I was there 95-96. Rob (can't remember his last name) was the owner then. He was working toward becoming a police man at the time.

How's Japan?

Sad COVID happened. I was supposed to go 3-4 times both this year and last year including Olympics. Ended up going 0 times

Now job responsibility changes means I no longer oversee our Japan business. Basically missed my window of going to Japan RIP

I've been a number of times already. I've always enjoyed it.

Part of it though is being able to see the friends that work over there. I enjoy seeing Japan with them more so than just tourist sight seeing.
