Feels like this whole off-season has been chaos so far. Maybe that’s to be expected with a coach just completing his first year in a portal/NIL/player retention environment but damn…

Frankly it looks to me that Hugh was shielded while at Liberty about what it’s like to compete with the big boys and came into the Auburn job believing that things were the same as they were when he was at Ole Miss.

Thus the seeming chaos starting his SECOND off-season here at Auburn.

Frankly, I’m not impressed so far. That doesn’t mean I don’t think he can’t turn things around and succeed. I am very much hoping he can.

His high school recruiting has been top-notch. But in the balance, compared to his coordinator hiring, his portal management and recruiting, and his game-day product thus far? On the balance? LESS than average and optimal.

I hope he wakes the frick up and improves.

I’m going about it as so, while at liberty the portal was never much of a factor so until arriving at auburn that had never been a thing for hugh. Let’s give him a season to figure that out and see where we stand. He has however been very successful at high school recruiting which is what we were hoping for and he does have experience there. I believe if he gets a full season of the portal to understand some of the intricacies of the portal he will figure it out. I also believe some of the issue this year is we spent some moolah on some of the recruits we got and may not have as much as we hope. Hope I’m wrong about that last one.

Also I don’t think it’s about waking up as much as it is taking steps instead of leaps. We got a great class and that will help. If we remain top 5 going into next years class that will really help us out. We have to be patient as well. I’d think if Hugh recruits HS as well as he does and then can’t figure out the portal that would be odd. It’s adjustment in approach and I believe he will figure it out or hire the people that will.

As far as Roberts he’s jumped from the pan into the fire. How long is that staff gonna be at UF maybe they make it to the end of next season.

Kiffin is probably the hottest name surrounding the DC position but thought he went the NFL route because he wasn’t about that recruiting life.

I would probably promote Aldridge as DC. He’s a superstar on the rise. With Charles Kelly to help guide him. Freeing up someone to either coach middle backers or edges and Aldridge the other position.

Oh I totally agree. That didn’t make much since to me him heading to Florida. I would be okay with Arnett but I’d prefer Kiffen.

Well, they are holding a lot of money for RW, so there’s that.
