When watching the TX Michigan game.

The announcer said one of the big differences on the TX defense was they got rid of non perfomers in the DBackfield and brought in the current players.

And our super upgrade is our safety from TX..........

I know he didnt play bad, I just thought it gave perspective on where the two programs are.

Part of that is the “ability” to get those better DB’s. Texas has it. Us? Maybe not so much.

The ghosts of end slide Gus

And cluster Hardin still haunt us.

Takes years to overcome that.

If Gus at the end and Harsin were as bad to the AU program as is generally believed, why do we expect to look good in year two of Freeze?

I was under the impression the program was basically nuked when we fired Harsin

It would take years to overcome before NIL, but now those issues should be fixed much quicker if we pony up the money for the right players.

No reasonable person should have been expecting us to contend for any meaningful titles but there is no excuse to be non competitive in games like NMSU, Maryland, and Cal. Two of which were at home.

As another poster just mentioned, this isn't 5 or 10 years ago where you had to totally rebuild. In the era of portal and NIL you can make significant improvement by year 2. Yesterday looked like a mirror image of the worst of last season.

Freeze doesn't tap into the portal like that. He focuses on HS kids.

Keionte

Needs to play nickel moving forward. It’s his natural spot.

Outside of a few plays I thought our DBs played well. A lot of throws were perfectly thrown from the qb. Not much you can do about those
