4* WR Christian Leary picks Bama over AU

We thought he was leaning AU maybe after pushing back his commitment

That one hearts my heart.. I had a gut feeling we we're going to get him long before anyone started talking about it. Still plenty of options though, especially since we're taking such a small WR class.

We got in on his recruitment pretty early, before he was even ranked. I think Bama did a great job of selling him on Waddle’s role.

The only 247 predictions were to Oklahoma so I’m not sure anyone really felt good about it

Yeah one of the insiders said he was the guy has been talking about/expected to commit to us.. he was pretty surprised. We will still be ok. I would love to pull Colzie and sell him on being the next Seth Williams.

We picked a good year to only need 1-2 receivers/linebackers.

Never believed that “insider“ on 247. Just reeks of the prototypical vague insider we see pop up and disappear every year.

Jboy, Ramone, and their pimple headed posse were 90% confident he’d pick Auburn.

Welp, I gave the alternative sources a shot. They failed.

Bama is probably done at WR. This helps us slightly with a few guys left on our board.

I would expect the coaches to go all-in on Malcolm Johnson Jr. to lock down some speed from this class. While Dawson is a guy that could play both WR or CB, I think he’s a corner all the way.

Hopefully we can field a good team with the table scraps from the elite schools.

It would be great if you guys could check it out and let me know what I messed up & who I missed
I saw these in Keith top targets article yesterday.

4* WR Marcus Burke
4* S Terrion Arnold
4* S Ahmari Harvey

Also noticed Keith added 4* DE Jonathan Jefferson, UGA commit, yesterday that wasn't in his last top targets article. Apparently Garner likes him a lot.

JLee had these in his top 5 targets per position articles

4* LB Chases Smith (247 lists him as a WR but AU likes him at LB)
3* TE Gunnar Helm (JLee says he's still a major target & Helm does not mind being in a 2 TE class)
3* DE Tobechi Okoli (AU offered last month & now is in his top schools group)

Gus went into Mississippi for recruits the past couple of years. With both of their state schools being excited about new coaches (and losing Woodson) that was going to be tougher moving forward.
Not to mention the talent level in Miss this year isn't what it was the past couple of cycles.

And said Leary had told him at one point he was going to AU. The info was off in the end but it supposedly came from the horse's mouth so to speak.

I’ll add those guys. I had Harvey already. Decided to leave off Helm. I don’t think he’s a take with King on board but we’ll see.

Caldwell @247 caught up with Kamari Lassiter. He’d like to make a commitment before the season starts.

Sounds like he’s near the top of our DB board with the attention he’s getting from the staff

More Top 247 updates. Nobody moved up or down more 5 spots.

Lee Hunter did sneak back into the top 100, though.

Notable target moves:

- Colzie dropped 67 spots. Looks like he's auburn bound
- Savion Bryd dropped 41 spots
- OT Rod Orr rocketed into the top 247 to land at 202. We've been keeping up with him here.
- Shadrach Banks dropped 47 spots

Kamari is actually one of my sons best friends. He was at the house the other day and told me he wanted to commit this summer as well. Great kid and would love to see him at AU. He wouldnt tell me where hes leaning.

Yup! A 300+ spot jump. I wish we would offer & take him already as our last OT in the class. We aren't getting Tommy Brock. or Mims. Don't want us to slow play & thus lose this one.
