Going to watch football and start making pies for Thanksgiving. Made a huge pot of chili for dinner tonight.

Just back from The Bright Star. Always a good decision. We're working a pile of weddings tomorrow, and it's the last busy weekend of the season. Looking forward to kicking back at our farm in the NC mountains next week, smoking turkeys, eating and probably drinking a bit too much. Will venture out in the cold at some point and chop down a Christmas tree.

I am doing okay.

Was the result of a HS football injury that never was repaired until I was in my 40’s. Arthritis set in and finally had to take the plunge earlier than they like you to but bone on bone was too much.

Recovery is going pretty good. Walking and riding a bike.

Parents
are coming down Sunday to stay for a week or so. My son and his wife are bringing the new grandchild down on Wednesday and staying until Sunday. I was hoping to take my father and my two boys out fishing next weekend but it looks like the winds are gonna be pretty good for about 6 to 10 days here. I'd like to take them out about 20 miles but my boat is not good with anything over 10 mph.

May have to stay inshore or head over to the lake.

Sorry to hear about your toe. The bay may work for you this weekend or Manatee river. Supposed to get back to the low 80's next week. Now is the time to get my Slingshot back up and going...nice weather for it. Gotta start looking for a car to replace mine. 2005 Honda 339K miles on it. No issues except a bearing is starting to go on it and basically have to replace the transmission so they tell me.

Yea, the bay will be fine. Been catching some snook and mangs over by the skyway and back towards St Pete. It will be fine there.

We rode up the Manatee one day about 10 miles. Just looking. Wife and I stopped and had lunch. Not sure how much fishing I will do there. Probably venture down towards Sarasota bay since that is closer to the new house and I need to learn it

Wanna buy a 2016 Mini Cooper? Wife has a new bronco being built next week. Need to get rid of her Mini. Been a OK car. Just expensive to repair if that happens. Its a fun car to drive but I would not suggest one. Everything with it is hard. Even oil changes

Going spatchcock for our turkey this year. Not smoking it, however. Going into the oven

I’ve always roasted the thing the traditional way so I’ll be learning as I go next week

TIL what “spatchcock” means

Looks interesting. May have to try it with a whole chicken sometime.

My wife always does the bird at Thanksgiving, though, and spatchcocking it would ruin my favorite part - she stuffs the thing with carrots, celery and onions, and those things come out delicious. I’d hate to miss out on those.

I didnt know what that was until earlier this week.

Had to look it up. Not going to try that on my first one. Leaving him while. Brine for 30 hours, dry him off, inject, mayo then rub.

I assume I need to baste him every so often. Going to put him on the Primo at 300 deg and let him smoke

Hopefully I wont screw it up
