I think he is correct though.
I remember fans of other teams scoffing because we didnt throw the bag at Vandagriff. There were several QBs last cycle that seemed to be cant miss but they would've only been meh.
There are very few cant miss QBs and Jayden Daniels may be the last one.

This shits all over the place. Nobody was calling vandagriff, a kid that never started a game, can't miss, and Daniels had a lil hype but he wasn't on the same level as cam ward.

Daniels was not good at ASU.

If LSU people knew who Jayden Daniels was they would've given him ten times the hype that Ward may have received. Who the frick watched Pac12 shite anyway?
I just checked Oregon boards since they are prominent in the portal. The Duke player was as cant miss as Ward.
I like Michael Van Buren's game a lot. Does that make him cant miss?? Dont think so.

You're making up you're own implications. Great college qbs get mid round grades all the time. Alot of people knew what he was at Wazzu and that's the reason he was being talked about preseason for the heisman.
You're the one making up your own implications. Preseason Heisman lists name up to 20 players. Conner Weigman and *shocked Pikachu* even Jackson Arnold were named on early betting-lines as Heisman candidates. Other QB's who were named on lists also include Jalon Daniels and Noah Fifita.
If you are going by preseason Heisman talk, then I guess we're getting a "can't miss" player in Jackson Arnold? The Athletic had him right behind Shadeur Sanders LOL.
I'm not telling you that he wasn't a sought after player, or that he wasn't good at WSU. I am telling you that the label "can't miss" can not possibly correlate with his actual track-record at WSU. The stats are the stats, and his win-loss record is what it is. He also lost to a below average UCLA team that was starting true freshman Dante Moore. He didn't play well in that game either.
The inconsistency in logic is baffling. Payton Thorne sucks because he didn't win games; but Cam Ward was a no-brainer can't miss prospect coming from a 5-win team? The win-loss record is excused for the losses to Oregon and company; but when you lead your team to 7 points vs. garbage-arse Stanford and lose...you are NOT "can't miss". If you are going to critique Thorne for "not getting it done", then the same critique needs to be applied elsewhere as well.

I'm just pointing out there was literally a podcast that scoffed at Auburn not going after Vandagriff, and they called him a cant- miss QB that we needed.

I’m glad for that, because your takes have been absolute trash since last season when you tried to gaslight everyone that a terrible QB returning for Auburn was going to be a good thing, when anyone with a brain knew we were headed for another losing season.

Who was that Coastal Carolina QB that was so cant miss that we had people bitching because we didnt have sports media major?
At the time it was as simple as go get him.
Now its so simple as get Klunbik, Arnold, Deuce, and White on the same football team. And if Freeze doesn't do that then he is stupid

He was cant miss bc his talent jumped out of the tape. You know how to Google numbers but it's becoming obvious that's all you look at. There's not alot of guys that you run the thought experiment of taking him out of his current situation and plugging him into somewhere with elevated talent around him and it's obvious he's gonna be incredible. Cam Ward was one of those guys. Right now there's none.
And trying to pin me under "Payton Thorne sucks bc he didn't win games" is just lazy and disingenuous.
Good qbs lose games, sometimes it's even their own fault. If they didn't Miami would be undefeated.
Cam Ward was one of the best qbs in the nation this year and it was pretty close to obvious that was gonna be the case when he hit the portal.
That is cant miss. Not everything that be pinpointed with a pretty lil stat. That's called nuance my boy.

I wanted him. He seemed like a safe bet. Not necessarily "can't miss cam ward" level.

People calling cam ward can't miss were right. Where tf is this conversation going? Them mfers at Jacks slip some lsd in my chicken sandwich?
Who am I being gullible about? I haven't called anybody in the portal this cant miss? Literally nobody is, the talent is so mid there's not even anybody worth inflating and pumping up.

LMAO.
Maalik Murphy easily has the talent to go to Miami (for example) and throw for 35+ TD's next season. This is an NFL-caliber arm.
If that happens, did that make him a "can't miss" prospect?? If so, why is nobody talking about him as a "can't miss" prospect right now in December of 2024?
You are using things that already happened (Ward's 2024 Miami season) to change what actually was the perception in the past (Ward coming out of WSU). Yes he had obvious natural ability. So do about three dozen+ other QB's, some of whom will never produce an elite season. Bo Nix had "natural ability" all the while he was throwing for ~12 TD's a season at Auburn. Were you calling Bo Nix a "can't miss prospect" when he transferred to Oregon? I would bet money that you didn't. But it actually turned out that he was.
Don't talk to me about scouting. Like Jang said, I was literally talking up Cam Ward coming out of Incarnate Word when we settled for Calzada. I'm aware of his arm talent.
