A top #2 recruiting class and a bowl game. At the least, he would’ve gotten Auburn to 8 wins though. Think about how awful the QB play was against Cal, Arkansas, Vandy, etc. But he took Miami to 10 wins with a pretty mediocre roster and had to play a lot hero ball to get them there.

Miami had the #14 roster playing in a down terrible ACC conference and still
Managed to miss the championship game and the playoffs. Plus had some miracle wins assisted by officiating in the middle part of the season because they appeared to be the only hope for a playoff spot at that time.

Thorne had flaws but being less than Ashford isnt one of them.
Ashford's dumb arse rode the bench his whole career.
Thorne:
5th in the conference in total passing yards
5th in passing TDs
4th in passing yards per game
8th in QBR
Four 300+ yard games
Some epic failure to be crowing about
Here is a spray chart on Thorne vs Arnold.
Arnold rarely tried to stretch the field.

Bro if Cam Ward was our QB how in hell do we lose to Ark, Cal, Mizz, (Vandy where all we needed was one TD) and my favorite Oklahoma? I'll give you Bama and Georgia, but those games where all close. A Heisman trophy finalist makes a difference there.

I guarantee Ward held the ball too long at times. You just magnify them because you're insufferable and need to be put down.

That same Auburn team had Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson. Lol They also beat Bama and pushed LSU and Joe Burrow to the limit that year. Damn I miss being good

Hindsight is 20/20, but that money was spent on a portal LT that was a bust, portal DL that were either busts or played sparingly, portal WRs that got passed by true freshmen, and secondary players that got passed by true freshmen. And my favorite, paid Scott to come back just to play like trash and get benched.
At least KLS was worth the investment though.
