I guess we'll see. i'm not concerned about it myself at the moment. will reserve judgement until after the portal closes and see what we have then.

Hoke essentially said Auburn NIL didnt meet the number he thought he could get from the draft.

A 4th rounder is a salary of about 1.1M with a signing bonus of around 500k.

So about 1.5M NIL to come back is my guess.

We paid Chaplin more than that and wanted him back.

Last staff paid him more than that. Current staff wanted him back, we don’t know for how much, and I’m not sure even at tackle that he’s a 4th rounder

Previous staff told the world he’s deaf. I’d not be super thrilled to return either if I’m him

I’m not into making excuses for the staff about each player declaring for the portal. It’s a tough time to talent gaze when everyone is only announcing departures

That's fair Jones, it just sucks to lose another good player because they just don't want to pay.

Didn't recall seeing this talked about here, but some info regarding Malcolm Simmons exit. apparently, he completely ghosted the new staff and never had a single conversation with them and just entered his name into the portal before they ever knew.

also, he was on IG Live very recently and said he would never step foot at Auburn again and was talking a lot of trash about Auburn and even went as far as to end his stream with a "Roll Tide", just to be spiteful. combine that with the off field stuff from last season and i don't care how talented this kid is, he has shite character i wouldn't want him on my team.

Never wanted him back on the team. I disagree with most of the players the staff has let walk, but getting Simmons out of the locker room will be a massive improvement. He's a cancer.

I think everyone knows how "Pro Player" Mike G and Ike and the whole War Rapport crew is and Ike & Mike G were basically ripping him a new one on the stream.

Yeah Simmons is just a dick I guess. Anyway on to someone I respect, Connor Lew was getting bottom first Early second round grades EVEN AFTER INJURY. let's say he went at the top of the second we're talking 2-3 million guaranteed with the full contact being 8-10 million. We cannot give anyone outside of Cam QB portal numbers I guess. Personally I think Ellis COULD be ready next year.

Center's don't usually go that high. Its just an undervalued OL position. Its pretty rare for a C to go first round. I'm sure he graded that high, but its like RB.. they take usually draft that position until later unless its a special player.

That's really disappointing.

A 3rd round O-lineman's rookie contract will pull around 6 million in the NFL. Would you expect 20% of our total NIL and revenue sharing to go to one lineman?

Hoke says Lew's camp believes he is a top 2 round prospect and wanted to be paid as such.

I don't see that.

I don't blame Auburn for not getting Lew.

We have now lost 10 OL. Senda is having second thoughts on leaving though.

What is really interesting is some Auburn lineman named Broderick Shull wasnt even enrolled at Auburn in the fall and rarely went to practice but he wants to return.

fair enough. This decision still makes a lot of sense as long as he goes before the 4th, which I think he will.

Shull was our highest rated guy last class.... what's the story with him? Any insider information?

Why would you expect us to match a 4 year contract instead of just 1 year of that, which is a little over a million.

Not really. Hoke shared he expects Shull to enter the portal considering he didn't show up to practice.

Soon afterwards Shull posted something on twitter about being ready to get back to Auburn.

Hoke seems unsure what to expect.

Yeah, my math wasn't mathing but 1.5 is still 5% of total. I would hate the job of trying to make everyone that I wanted to stay, happy.

For goodness sake. Some of you are double counting the guaranteed money for a player drafted, lumping a multi year contract into one year, and thinking the kid will go in the second round.....you sound like his agent.

He did not even make 3rd team all SEC and has a broken wheel. If, thats if he makes the 53 man roster as an UDFA he would get 840K. He is a center, always been a center. If he could play other positions he would be more useful. He probably ends up on a practice squad making 200K or so. He should stay for a year and at least try and improve his draft stock.

Graham Barton out of Duke, was a center drafted in the first round last year. He can play center, guard, and tackle in a pinch. He was a two time all american. Lew aint no Graham Barton.
