I'll take your word for it then. I graduated 15 years ago, so I'm not that up on the entry level job market. I was between 45-50k my first year out 15 years ago but I suppose wage growth has been pretty stagnant over the past few decades anyway.

I suspect a bit of research could show this to be true. Wage growth, Boomers living over extended lifestyles forcing them to work longer, the 2008 market crash pushing back retirement, etc...it's a tough ere to be looking to break into the professional world.

Plus people getting useless degrees. There are only so many gender studies jobs out there.

My first job out of Auburn in early 1984 paid 16,500 bucks a year... But then Auburn cost 330 bucks a quarter!

I can't remember how much it was for me in the late 90's, early 2000's.

It was under 2k per quarter, maybe 1700-1800. I just remember I had student loans the entire time. The 2.5k loan would get deposited, tuition paid, books bought and I would have a few hundred left over.

I was around 30k in debt when I finished, including masters degree. I worked a decent amount while in school too, made maybe 30k in total over the 6 years at AU.

I did a little better than you. When I was going to college, I was working on a dock loading freight. Worked all the way through school. Was making $12 working on the dock.

I graduated and landed a job for NEC Home Electronics as a Electronics Engineer making $20,800 per year. $10/hour. When I started the Engineering job, my wife quit her job as a teller at the bank and started pharmacy school. I did not quit my Dock job. I would work as a Engineer all day for $10/hr, go in the bathroom in our facility, change from my dockers to blue jeans and boots then go work on the dock for 6 hours at night to make $12/hr.

Did that for 5 years till my wife finished Pharmacy school. Of course I was make decent money in the Engineering world by then but it took a few years to prove myself before they gave me a good salary
