One more possible (albeit unlikely outcome). Go for two and fumble/interception does the other way. Now you're only up by 2 so an LSU FG wins it for them. That could happen if you take the kick too, but much less likely.

It's happed before.

I thought and thought about it, but going by probabilities of getting 2 and them missing an extra point (not as likely) vs going for 1 and if they score and leave time to go get a FG and win instead of tie (more likely to happen), I believe they made the right choice.

It's happened in this series before.

1996, the Barn Burner game. AU drove for a TD in the final minute, was going for 2 to tie and Jon Cooley (filling in for a concussed Dameyune Craig) threw an INT that LSU returned for 2pts, putting the game out of reach of a FG.

Obviously going for 2 made perfect sense in that instance, but the outcome was less than desirable.

Geez, that's honestly even crazier than the Kick 6.

Just watched it - talk about a coaching screwup.

With 7 seconds left they should have taken a knee on the PAT and squibbed the KO. Absolutely nothing to be gained by going for 2, the odds of Appy State getting a KO and getting in position for a game-winning FG were infinitesimally small.

When, as in this case, points are relatively inconsequentiaI, I believe there is a psychological significance to “success” or “failure”. To punctuate a score with “success” of an extra point does more for your esteem then going for two and failing…

What's your reasoning of why he should have went for 2?
