and how exactly did you come to this conclusion?
Because I think his intangibles (mobility, running, and long passing) would have produced more wins than a guy who has never started a Division I football game in his life.
And I honestly don’t understand why smuphy’s post is applicable to my opinion?

I think he’s borderline for what I’d want to take as a project. That’s because he’s got 4 left to play 3 which is why I’m on the fence. I like his size but over 350 is concerning
Janga owns this bit so I don’t want to go too deep here. Not that many JUCO guys have worked out for us lately. I think that avenue dries up a lot once we’re 4+ years into the portal cycles

he has proven he knows more about what is going on than what we do with our opinions.

did you not watch Ashford last year? He doesn't see the field well. He is a great athlete but not much of a QB. We have seen what he can do and it left us lacking.

Holden will be number 2 by the time Thorne is named the starter in fall practice.
Meta is correct.
2 reasons Holden is a better passer then Robby. And you don’t have to change your scheme to go from Throne to Holden.
I do think there will be a Robby package. However I don’t think it will be something we do unless there is an emergency.

I’m fine with packages for Robby as long as they’re not potato man one play in, one play out packages.

I don’t disagree. I think Geriner is a much better choice to be #2 now that Thorne will be the starter (and he will be the starter).
My points were wholly addressing an imaginary QB room that didn’t have any further additions to it from last season.

If Ashford was not on the team last year then Holden would have started. That’s the gist of our agreement. Ashford did get better in the end and I believe he starts to begin the season with no portal help.
I am not watching Thorne gamefilm either. I’d rather not realize our help sucks too.

If you sanction then I request we pull up the week of the great investigation and then the week where the WR coach got fired. I was even defending Juh boy.

Everyone else is trying to show how big of a deck they have on this anonymous message board. You may be the only one everyone knows who you are.
Other than the QB Cobb appearance at one time.
I’m really glad we picked up a competent QB with a lot of snaps. I expected we would but I was getting a little nervous. Lol
Now get him some targets Freeze.

I approve. We need to see it
I think everything should be aired before the season so everyone knows where everyone is at.
And before people complain I just want to point out that this is what we do. We remember everything (loosely), hold grudges, and flame each-other.
It’s time to bump the threads

Thorne has the most TD passes in a single season than any QB in Mich State history.
And he’s a very accurate passer thus far in his career.
Hell, those two things alone make me have a smidgen of hope.

Yea, I am not much on hiding bro. I am who I am and I will ride with that. I have zero animosity with anyone on this board. Even the ones who have made snarky remarks about my family.
If we get together, I will buy the drinks.
For gods sake. Its only football. None of us know jack shite. One of my favorite posts lately was made about one of the QB's. cant even remember who made it. Said if we got XXX QB,he would throw for 2300 yards and 15 TDs.

We could use a festivus off-season thread, lasting a couple of weeks. Begins July 1. Everyone can bring up their bookmarked bullshite from the last year
It could be glorious

You’re all good bro.
Agreed we don’t know shite, I have been way wrong several times, and lucky when right. I love all our Auburn brothers. I have more fun than anything when arguing. It’s amusing to say the least.
I just wish Bo Nix didn’t give up on us.
I’m getting excited about this staff. They are working their asses off to bring a competitive team to Auburn.
Agreed Jones, let’s get the past behind us so we can enjoy the new era. However, you know as well as I do we will hear about Harsin and Gus this coming season.

Again, I'm not a Geriner guy and like I've said before there's a good chance he never does anything here. But the point here is that you have three TRUE QB guys in the room and they're the ones making the decision. Ashford is the complete opposite of what these types (Montgomery, Freeze, Austin) look for in a QB. Bad accuracy. Careless with the football. Highly erratic. Needs broken plays to make things happen and can't operate out of a stable offense. INCONSISTENT. He's also emotional and whiny to boot. Nobody better come in here now and relate him to Malik Willis, by the way.
Some of you need to take yourselves out of the picture with regards to what you think is "valuable". Ashford's only strengths (speed and arm strength) are below several other qualities that are of higher priority. The fact that he can run faster is not something that "wins him" the job over anyone.
Geriner has no experience but let's get real here: Ashford hasn't EARNED his playing time either. What experience does he have? We tripped over ourselves last season and that's the only reason why he even got onto the field. Harsin had no intention of starting him nor did anyone at Oregon, so this isn't some wily "veteran presence" in comparison to Geriner. I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised to hear that they'd go with Geriner would him.
Like I said, from what I've heard/been told by people who have an idea; Geriner would have started over Ashford. But I've also been telling you guys since Freeze got here that our starting QB wasn't on campus, and here we are today with that finally culminating. And yet some people just can't take a hint and here we are trying to convince ourselves that there is a QB battle brewing lol?
Also, your terminology doesn't make much sense. Mobility, running ability, and arm strength are tangible qualities lol. How ared those "intangibles"? Intangibles are qualities that you cant really measure - like instincts, timing, consistency, calm-headedness, etc.

Not from what any of has seen so far. Ashford throws a beautiful deep ball. We know that because we’ve seen it. He had run for his life as soon as the ball was snapped. The rare occasion he had time, he delivered.
