My $34 a month is predicated on them getting an upgrade at QB. It’s in my contract.

Depends on growth. He’s an interior guy and very few IOL get 5 stars. He’s most likely a center

He also has another Elite OL playing with him, Bear Mcwhorter who is committed to Arkansas, but lot of time between now and then.

I’m gonna let Freeze decide who he wants to go after. Portal QB or not. If someone enters the portal and schedules a visit I’ll check it out until then not much I can do other then wait it out

He anyways has T-Rex arms and is injury-prone… hard pass.

Am I doing this right?

Did anyone else note that Trooper Towel Taylor is the interim head coach at Duke?
TT Duke profile
“ As the University of Auburn’s assistant head coach and wide receivers coach from 2009-12, Taylor helped the Tigers to 33 victories, four postseason wins, and the Southeastern Conference and BCS titles in 2010.”

I'd like to see how the higher rated trasnfer portal qb's from last year impacted their new teams. The ones I've seen listed didn't really do much.

Somewhere yes, but possibly not in the recruiting thread

This was my point. Id bet this conversation is being had. "Coach we can get Leonard, however that means we dont have the money for Coleman and Ryan Williams; or, vice versa, you tell me".
Money is not an issue for Coleman or Williams.

I think Trinidad is thinking with what his pocket book and accounts look like.

That money has been set aside for quite sometime.

I also believe Portal Money/High School money is kept separately.

Here's last years top portal QB's on 247. So many of these guys straight up didn't sniff the field. Portal rankings are hard to understand sometimes.

Different collectives working in tandem

I really hope we can lock down a portal Qb that can at least challenge Thorne. We need as much competition in that room as possible

I can't imagine Freeze would work so hard to improve every other position group and not tweak the most important one a little

interesting. Of the top 5 only Sanders was able to win more games than the previous season, 1 didn't play and another lost 4 more games. I know there's more to it than just the qb but on the surface it doesn't seem like the investment was worth it.

I am guessing Leary, Hartman, the UNC dude that got paid to stay at home, Pratt, and others got huge paydays, and yes none of them look well worth it a year later, but then again, NIL is a losuy investment workhorse.

I have also seen obscene numbers for Rattler and KJ Jefferson, and their years were not worth it either. And if we are really paying Payton Thorne 500,000 per season we are stupid.

I think sharing time with Robby really hurt his development, especially with Throne not participating in the spring practices. 500k isnt that much for a quality depth guy. Is he a super star, no. But well worth the investment imo

Ok, I have to ask since I've never seen him play, but why were we so high on him? He had one season where his stats were decent (same as Thorne) and that wasn't even the most recent year (same as Thorne.)

He was banged up this year, but did lead Duke to a win over Clemson in convincing fashion. His film is pretty sick too.

I can't believe there is someone who thinks our qb play this year was a bargain at 500k. I must be so out of touch

This is pretty good observation. A lot of the success in transfers depends on the coach for the most part imo. Hurts/Murray/Caleb Williams are huge outliers and they all went under the tutelage and system of Lincoln Riley. Cam/Burrow in their own category I think since they would have probably been successful anywhere. I would not mind a couple of impactful transfers like that marinating somewhere else for a bit and winning Heismans/NCs under Freeze…
